Good Points: Great attention to detail. Tastefully decorated rooms and public spaces. Lovely grounds. Nice touches like being able to borrow from a very extensive CD collection and a more limited DVD collection for use in the room, fresh fruit in the room etc. Very attentive staff. Room was always tidied and bed made whilst we were at breakfast so you always returned to a freshly made up room. Room was always checked every time we went out. Interesting menu with a good choice of food all very nicely prepared and presented.
Bad Points: For a 5* hotel who pride themselves on attention to detail just 3 things irked us. In amongst the very tasteful furnishings there is too much of a smattering of IKEA - for example occasional tables and lamps in the lounge, glasses and jugs in the restaurant and rooms. In the restaurant the blinds and curtains are not closed at night and as a significant part of the restaurant is an extension with lots of views of the gardens (great at breakfast)this means that the blank black windows in the evenings now that it is autumn make the restaurant feel cold - not helped as well by the fact that the radiators in the restaurant were also not on. Although the rooms are regularly checked and tidied the dark brown carpet in the room was not vaccuumed for the entire time that we were there meaning that by the final day of our stay it was covered in very obvious fluff rather taking the edge off the feel of the room.
Further Comments: The Gower peninsula is well worth a visit and the hotel is well placed for access to all parts of the Gower. The hotel is very friendly and welcoming and not at all pompous and we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. See above for all other details.
