Shepherds Hotel near Workington: Workington Hotels

Good Points: Easy access and good size room with useful facilities.
Bad Points: Dining room staff not quite on the ball. Not sure of what was "on" and "off" in the evening, and breakfast order not quite right. No one available at check out desk in the morning (Sunday), so we left key on desk as we had to go to our appointment in town.
Further Comments: We had a good stay and were refreshed by it, and set up for the day ahead.

Good Points: friendly staff, good food, clean hotel.

Good Points: Hotel in convenient position with easy access. Come and go as you like. Our window had good views over the fells.
Bad Points: The shower did not work at all well. Just a dribble came out both mornings, so had to resort to a bath which is not as quick. Also the carpet underneath/near the coffee/tea making facilities was terribly stained and must have been very unhygienic. These two points were reported when we departed. It did look at times as there were not enough staff; one young lady was doing reception work and catering!
Further Comments: Our two night stay was very adequate for our needs.

Good Points: Seeing a sheepdog herding a flock of geese outside my window one morning.
Further Comments: On checking in, I had to ask a member of restaurant staff if anyone was covering reception. Dinner in restaurant OK, but drinks a bit pricey. Overall the hotel was OK but the full breakfast I found to be too much of and was greasy. The wireless internet did not work, had to use dial up to connect to internet.

Good Points: The facilities in the room were excellent
Bad Points: The reception worked office hours - ie open from 9.00 am - 5.00 pm. The staff in the restaurant did not appear to know about how to book people in and in fact turned away several potential customers

Good Points: Free Wi-Fi access that worked well
Bad Points: Restuarant was very basic and not that inviting
Further Comments: Hotel clean and comfortable. Power shower was fantastic. The Restaurant looked a bit like a student common room and wouldn't be somewhere to go for a romantic evening - food was ok.

Good Points: The receptionist was very welcoming. The restaurant in the hotel was fabulous: excellent quality of food for a reasonable price. The room was fantastic: big bed (4 persons could sleep in it), fantastic bathroom. The room was very well equipped. In addition, internet is free!!!!!I hope to return in this hotel for my next travel in Cumbria!!
Further Comments: Excellent. In order to attract other clients, you could add that internet is free in your hotel!

Further Comments: Overall a friendly atmosphere, Martin was a great help and recommended places to visit away from the main tourist attractions.

Bad Points: the fact that the rooms were too near the shop and exhibition, so anyone could wander about
Further Comments: meals limited selection, but very good. Hotel extremely easy to find and plenty of parking

Bad Points: THE STAFF FOUND IT QUITE DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND US AND KEPT ASKING US TO TRANSLATE, WE ARE SCOTTISH.
Further Comments: REALLY NICE HOTEL, COSY AND FRIENDLY AND NICE SHOP UPSTAIRS TO BUY GIFTS. BREAKFAST WAS REALLY GOOD TOO.

Good Points: Good clean and adequate room. Restaurant menu needs improving, it seemed to be the same each day.
Bad Points: Nothing
Further Comments: The hotel was adequate for what we wanted. It was good for a couple of nights stay. I wouldn't use it for any longer. It's certainly not luxury accommodation but perfectly adequate for overnight or short stay.
