Vale Park Hotel near Cardiff: Cardiff Hotels

Good Points: The room was large and light, with an excellent bathroom.
Bad Points: There was a bulb out in the bathroom, and only two portions of milk (bearing in mind this was booked and paid for as a double). There was also a slight lingering smell of cigarette smoke, despte the dire warnings of the consequences of illegally smoking in the rooms,
Further Comments: This was the first day of the new season and the couple who run the hotel were not back having been delayed at the US airport from which they were returning. SO a scratch team of three were trying to run the place as best they could. What they lacked in experience they made up for by being patient, cheerful and as helpful as possible. The hotel is ideally placed for the airport and also for a wander around the Galmorgan coast and villages. If you like the open air there is more here that you might have expected. The instructions on the website are a bit complicated - visitors should simply follow the airport signs until they are at the Roose roundabout at which point the hotel is only 50 yards away on the Roose road. I didn't get to eat an evening meal in the restaurant - but the menu looked interesting and the pricing was reasonable.

Good Points: Clean and tidy
Bad Points: nothing
Further Comments: The hotel and room was clean and tidy. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired. We had a choice of plain white or brown bread of which the quality was poor. We had a coice of petit filou yoghurts which where tiny and they only offered cornflakes or muesli.

Good Points: Room was a fair size for an over night stay. Bed was comfy (although a tad too soft for what we are used to indoors).
Bad Points: Shower water was hot and cold..had to keep re adjusting temp gauge.Cups could be a bit bigger for the tea and coffee!! No headboard, so pillows fell to the back of the bed..other than that, no real grumbles.
Further Comments: Stayed here overnight for a family get together in the area.(Novemeber 2007) The hotel is reasonably new. Was informed that the owners opened it earlier this year. Still has some work to do on the outside.Water system needs tuning, as the shower temerature was a trifle erratic. Caravans nearby, not sure who occupied them. Inside was pleasant. Dining room was comfortable. Staff were very helpful. About half an hour drive away from Cardiff. Brewers Fayre restaurant about five mins drive away if you fancy pub with grub. On the whole, a pleasant stay. Would come here again if we were in the area.

Further Comments: I booked this hotel for my sons girlfriend. She had been extremely busy at an event organised by herself and my son, and could not leave the event till late afternoon, resulting in a late evening arrival at your hotel. She was made to feel very welcome on her arrival, this being especially comforting for a young lady on her own. Thankyou and well done

Bad Points: Breakfast poor bread poor cereal For price of room per night would have expected better
Further Comments: Noisy guests smoking outside our room window at 0330 hours presumeably waiting for airport transport.Would not have booked if we had known that this was possible. Room Hairdryer difficult to use as had to keep thumb on button to keep it running. Very difficult when you have athritic hands We had just spent 7 nights in a Gower B and B same price as this hotel, but the breakfast was 5 star. This Hotel breakfast was appalling.

Good Points: Great hotel, friendly owners, the service was A1, I should know as I'm a professional catering consultant. The food was 5-star.
Further Comments: This is 5-star personal service and just great value for money, you won't find a better place to stay, it's up to Hilton standards but better, because of the personal attention provided by the owners, large Hotels could learn a lot about customer service & satisfaction from these people. It's family run, and it feels like a real home from home, there is nothing the owners would not do for their guests. In other words this is FIRST RATE.

Further Comments: This is 5-star personal service and just great value for money, you won't find a better place to stay, it's up to Hilton standards but better, because of the personal attention provided by the owners, large Hotels could learn a lot about customer service & satisfaction from these people. It's family run, and it feels like a real home from home, there is nothing the owners would not do for their guests. In other words this is FIRST RATE.
