Good Points: Made very welcome by owners and bedrooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Car parking also very convenient.
Further Comments: Bedrooms were relatively small but more than adequate, plus clean and comfortable - with en suite shower. Traditional English breakfast was wonderful and enjoyed by all. The owners were very welcoming, on hand with useful information but not intrusive. Car parking within a matter of yards was very convenient.

Good Points: The hostess is friendly and responsive to guests. She was our first offer of porridge for breakfast after MANY days of full English breakfasts and it was so welcome for the change!
Further Comments: This B&B was lovely...rooms were nicely decorated and hostess was so friendly. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Further Comments: I found the accomomdation to be very clean and friendly. staff were very helpful and also made a lovely breakfast. I would definately recomend anyone to stay here and no doubt we will be back again in the near future.

Good Points: Very close to York city centre, all the main attractions were within walking distance. Free on street parking.
Bad Points: Bedroom very small with dated decoration. Bathroom small, with wash basin in bedroom.
Further Comments: My partner and I stayed at the Dalescroft Guest House in February 2007. When we arrived at the Guest House we were greeted by the load bark of the family dog and a very strong smell of disinfectant. The owner was very friendly and chatty and made us very welcome. The ensuite double bedroom was very small and the decoration was definitely from the 1970￢ﾀﾙs!!! The bathroom had a shower cubical and WC. The hand basin was in the bedroom area. The room was very clean, but still had the uncomfortable disinfectant smell. Parking is on the road, you have to obtain a parking permit from the Guest House otherwise you will be end up with a parking fine. The parking permit runs out at 10.00 hrs on your final day. Breakfasts were good, although the serving times seem to suit the owners more than the guests. The advertised whisky porridge is only available by special order and has to be ordered the previous day. On the first morning we left the used bath towels on the shower floor expecting them to be changed and were amazed to find them replaced back on the towel rack, still wet. With no drying facilities I would have expected clean towels everyday. We tried to complain on the night when we returned, but the owners were out. Dalescroft is ideally situated for York and all the main attractions are about a 10 minute walk away. If you are looking for cheap no frills accommodation when you are visiting York, then this is the place for you.

Further Comments: overall the accommodation was very good but was a guest house rather than a hotel,nice breakfast and friendly staff i would be more than happy to stay there again

Good Points: beautifully maintained bed and breakfast with friendly hosts
Further Comments: Ideally situated hotel for walking into centre of York for shopping and tourist attractions. The accommodation was very clean and well-maintained and the owners were welcoming and friendly at all times. A hearty English breakfast was also included.
