Good Points: It was a lovely old hotel set in a quiet and peaceful country location. The room had loads of character and was very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and attentive and the food was very good. It was just what we were looking for.
Further Comments: Having stayed at a number of Old English Inns we have always found them to be excellent value for money. The accommodation is always clean and comfortable, many of the inns being in old character buildings full of charm and history. The staff are helpful and polite and the food is to a high standard. The Dog House was no exception to this rule.

Good Points: The fact that it was a pub! The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
Bad Points: The room was above the kitchen and the extractor fans - whilst they were not a major problem, were annoying at times (e.g. when they were first switched on in the morning, they would wake you up.)
Further Comments: The food was good and we particularly liked the cooked breakfast (some of what was advertised on the breakfast menu did not appear) It was a lovely hotel with a great atmosphere and a friendly staff. Also ideally suited for Oxford and biking holidays in the area.

Good Points: Clean, comfortable, quiet room and friendly, helpful staff.
Further Comments: The hotel more than lived up to the information provided - all rooms are now non-smoking and tea-making facilities are provided, neither of which is mentioned on your website and both of which came as a pleasant surprise.

Good Points: bright cosy and very welcoming
Bad Points: the room being over the kitchen fans
Further Comments: the accomadation and layout of the hotel was very good .the food although very good was abit expensive for bar meals.the bar staff and resteraunt staff could not do enough for you .the only problem with a place of this kind is you over spending because of the atmosphere and the good food and service.but thats what you are in buisness for.

Good Points: It was very close to our friends' home. Good sized room. Nice quiet location.
Bad Points: Service at breakfast very slow, toast never did arrive. Peeling wallpaper on the bedroom ceiling, 15 inch or so tear in the duvet cover. Overpriced.
Further Comments: A satisfactory stay but we, and other guests, did feel that it was overpriced for what it was. Far too few staff waiting on at breakfast such that we had a long wait for our cooked breakfast. The breakfast staff were pleasant enough but clearly frustrated that they had a full hotel and couldn't keep up with demand.
