Good Points: Clean, comfortable hotel in middle of refurbishment but no disruption to service. Friendly staff, goood food, good value.
Further Comments: If you are visiting the New Forest, Hillier Gardens or National Trust properties this is a good base. As a 3 star hotel it gives good value and the service was personal and friendly. Room service is available from the dining room menu and it is not a restricted menu - better meal and service than I have experienced in 4 star hotels in the region and abonus for guests who are travelling alone.

Good Points: The rooms were very clean and spacious
Bad Points: Only the fact the shower did not function properly.
Further Comments: On arriving the first thing you see is a picture postcard hotel, extremely inviting. The hotel is being refurbished and the result is excellant, The restaurant was beautiful and modern, and the food served to a la carte cuisine. We have enjoyed our short stay and will definatley be going back.

Good Points: The overall appearance of the hotel was impressive. The staff were friendly and professional on the whole. The restaurant facilities and bar facilities were very good.
Bad Points: The way breakfast was organised was poor. I do not mind a buffet at all but I object to coffee from a flask. This should be seved fresh and to order. The food was ok but since no one directed us as to where to go or what to do once we were in the restaurant, I had no idea where toast or croissants were since no one told us there were any!! I assumed that we would have toast brought to us. The room my son had (twin) was far superior to ours and the decor and beds were of a high standard. I paid more for a double room and the bed was so rickety that my partner and I fell into the middle all night and consequently got hardly any sleep. The bathroom was shabby and in real need of a facelift. I was disappointed in the double room.
Further Comments: This hotel has a real potential to shine. It is in a great location and is an impressive building. I enjoyed my stay overall but think that some refurbishment to some rooms is needed. I understand that this will take place in the near future.

Good Points: the location/friendliness of staff and the breakfast!
Bad Points: seemed tired - room was very dark and non inviting
Further Comments: served the purpose for the time we were in the area. Felt that it had been neglected for some time and although clean, was definitely from another era. we think a refurbishment is well overdue. Wallpaper and furnishings in the bedroom were very tired. Our table at breakfast (which was excellent) was next to the window with wallpaper coming off the walls and plaster crumbling. The staff however, were charming and very helpful and we would recommend the hotel in general provided we warned prospective clients of its current state

Further Comments: The retuarant had just been refrubished- use of light oak and glass panelling very modern and realaxing -good choice of menu starters ￂﾣ5.00 mains from ￂﾣ10.00- 15.00 -Food very well presented and tasted good too.They employ a chef rather then a microwave operater! Next time in area will definitly stop here again it was a very pleasent experience

Bad Points: Unswept carpet in restaurant at breakfast time. Noisy buffet refrigerator unit.
Further Comments: Nothing further required in the way of information. The location of the hotel was central and convenient for our stay.

Good Points: Accessible for the motorwat
Bad Points: Heating did not work, Sky channels advertised but not available. I was given a room at the far end of the hotel even though it wasn't 50% full
Further Comments: A refurb seems to be planned but that shouldn't mean that the standards slip in the weeks before the refurb.
