| Good Points: I was quite pleasantly surprised to be allocated a room with a four poster bed. The accomodation was very easy to find with the directions given. It was very conveniently situated on a bus route into York which provided a bus every 10 minutes. |
| Bad Points: The room became very warm and stuffy and it wasn't very easy to open the sash windows. I didn't like the fact that I had to climb over the hoover on the way back to my room after breakfast on the morning of departure. |
| Further Comments: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in York and would not hesitate to recommend this accomodation to others. |

| Good Points: The bed was very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the very helpful, friendly staff. Excellent location only 15 minutes walk into York City. Bus stops right outside the hotel going each way made it easy to get into the city if you didn't want to walk. Very relaxing atmosphere. |
| Bad Points: Only one or two very minor details - the shower ran slightly hot, the door handle to our room was loose and the cap on the cold tap fell off. One or two minor decorative points - bathroom ceiling could have done with a lick of paint. |
| Further Comments: Easy to find, very good location. When they said they were overlooking York race course they weren't being economical with the truth - the entrance to the hotel was dead opposite the grandstand. Breakfast was served in the basement of the hotel which was very nicely decorated and very pleasant. Excellent choice of food - something for everyone. Had dinner one night and, again, the food was excellent. Didn't have time to try out the pool and sauna as was too busy doing other things. |

| Good Points: Resturant was very good |
| Further Comments: A good stay overall, just little things that let it down. Swimming pool changing rooms not up to spec, toiletries not restocked and only had a bath, room in the attic so not the most spacious. The hotel had a very good resturant and Breakfast was very good. |

| Good Points: I liked the look of the hotel and the proximity to the town. The bedroom was a good size (we had room) and the breakfast was nice. |
| Bad Points: The radiators had been turned off when we got there so it was a like cold. |
| Further Comments: I enjoyed my stay it was only for one night. The room was nice and a good size. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was nice. it was a nice walk into town.
The No 4 bus goes right outside and into town which we found useful |

| Good Points: Clean, functional, warm, all bits present |
| Bad Points: bed a bit small, mattress very soft |
| Further Comments: Enjoyed our stay & had no real issues - close enough to walk to centre (Micklegate 20 mins)- bar available if you wanted to stay in - food excellent - staff a real treat - pool was a bonus - either fix the sauna or get rid of it !! |

| Good Points: The accommodation was reasonable as was it's location. The staff were helpful and friendly. |
| Bad Points: It has the potential to be a wonderful hotel, however, it is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Also although there were not many people staying we were very disappointed when returning to the hotel at 10:05pm to find the bar closed and no staff on duty. |
| Further Comments: The hotel is in a wonderful location and we could see what a lovely building it had been. However, it has certainly seen better days. The paintwork was badly chipped as was some of the crockery and it just seemed as though there was very little care taken. The towels were hard and had seen a lot of use and little details such as tissues in the room were missing. It just had the feeling of that'll do. |

| Good Points: The building was full of character and charm. The swimming pool was a particular attraction for us and we made good use of it. We would recommend the restaurant as well. |
| Further Comments: The hotel was within easy walking distance of the city centre, so we were able to leave the car safely in the hotel car park. After a busy day sightseeing we were able to relax in the pool before enjoying an excellent meal in the hotel restaurant. We never felt the need to eat out in the evenings. |

| Further Comments: Although I had to change the date of our visit prior to our depatture and our requestwas not passed on to either the booking clerk or reception, we had been expected on the original booked date, The problem was quickly resolved and we had a wonderfull stay and will be using this hotel again |

| Good Points: The tropical pool was a welcome treat when we reached the hotel. |
| Bad Points: The annex rooms are next to the gravelled car park so a bit noisy at night time. Rooms are not sound proof either so you can hear the TV in the next door room word for word! The mattress was also very worn and was very uncomfortable - protruding coils at chest level - so hard to be comfortable and to sleep. |
| Further Comments: I was not aware of the annex part of the hotel from the information from the website. When I confirmed the booking by phone I was not made aware of not having a room in the main part of the hotel. On the whole the main part of the hotel was clean, warm and tidy. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff were generally cheerful and helpful. The website states that there is a sauna in the tropical pool area however this was filled with tools and not in use. The hotel is a good location from the main part of the city and a quick taxi ride got us to main attractions promply ( cost about ᅡᆪ5 one way). |

| Good Points: The hotel is a very nice indeed with the staff friendly helpful and informative, we were made to feel both comfortable and welcome.
The facilities, pool, bar and food were also of a very good quality.
I will be visiting York periodically for some time to come and will endeavour to use this hotel again without hesitation.
Overall a very good stay indeed. |
| Bad Points: The only problem we had was the room, we were in a family room in the roof space which had some hight restrictions that had to be negotiated. |
| Further Comments: Friendly, welcoming and informative staff.
Facilities were very good.
Very nice surroundings, both internally and externally.
Easy access by road to the hotel, and parking available.
Very easy access into York City centre from the hotel, by foot, bus or taxi. |
