Good Points: The refurbished room was very contemporary and pleasant. Large room, large ensuite. Breakfast was very good value for money.
Bad Points: Generally the rest of the hotel was a little shabby with apologies made by owners/staff informing us it was under refurbishment.
Further Comments: The accomodation served its purpose. The location was not the best in the world but overall good value for money.

Good Points: Clean and bright accommodation and friendly and helpful staff.
Bad Points: The access to the room was claustrophic and was not helped by the dark red colour scheme on our floor.

Good Points: The bedroom was fantastic not like a hotel room really relaxing and cosy.
Bad Points: The red paintwork in the corrider, very opressive.
Further Comments: Excellant have recommended to friends especially as you allow dogs.

Good Points: Very friendly Hotel. Great atmosphere and good customer service. Lovely room over looking the beach furnished in a clean, contemporary way.
Bad Points: Decorating and modernisation works in progress
Further Comments: A good hotel in a great location. Lots of work has been completed to update and modernise the Hotel. Work still in progress but this was not a problem as the excellent service and friendly staff more than compensated. First class breakfast on the terrace in the sunshine, who could ask for more!

Further Comments: OVERALL THIS HOTEL , IS OF A GOOD STANDARD ALTHOUGH GOING THROUGH REFURBISHMENT , BUT THIS DID NOT DETRACT FROM THE ENJOYABLE STAY WE HAD . THE RESTAURANT BAR IN THE HOTEL WAS MOST ACCOMADATING IN THE SERVICE IT PROVIDED ESPECIALLY FREE ROOM SERVICE FOR MEALS IF YOU WANTED IT . THE RESTAURANT STAFF WERE VERY PLEASENT AND HELPFUL

Further Comments: We found the room comfortable and very clean. the bathroom was new and very nice, very clean. The food was very nice and good value for money. Staff were very friendly.

Good Points: It was clean and tidy with a great view from our room. The strict no smoking policy is welcome and the staff are always available to assist if required. The creaky floorboards are a real reminder of a bygone era,it was wonderful.
Bad Points: We could only stay three days.
Further Comments: A good room with a great view and very helpful,flexiable staff who made us welcome as soon as we arrived. The food was good value and the service was always prompt. Despite the on going refurbishment there was little disturbance and we look forward to a return visit when the work is complete to view the finished item.

Bad Points: The creaking floor and creaking bed. Part of the hotel was under renovation, so there were building material laying around and the carpets were dirty. The hallway is a maze and it was difficult to navigate our way to and from our hotel room.
Further Comments: The room was nice, but I feel the hotel is overpriced.

Good Points: The entire Hotel was no-smoking! The room was very spacious. Convenient on-site parking is available!

Further Comments: The hotel was exactly fit for our purpose - a one night stay to a town we are unlikely to revisit [but if we did we would stay at the White Rock again]. We were intrigued by the approach to food - what looks to be a surrender to competing restaurants and cafes - was in fact, an acceptable solution for our purpose. [We were guests at a dinner at Latham's brasserie, and breakfast was fine]. Non-smoking is to be applauded and the beers were to be celebrated - for effort more than delivery [they ran out]. The hotel may be at risk from what looks like an appalling approach to environmental planning by the town's authorities. If the pier is allowed to become the sort of wreck that marred the sea front at Plymouth [Tinside Lido], Knightstone Island at Weston, then a part of the hotel's appeal will be damaged.
