Further Comments: The prices of all the hotels in England were quite steep for us. Coming from the US, all prices meant we were paying double in dollars.

Good Points: The warm welcome, efficient check in and comfortable room. The breakfast was delicious and dining room staff courteous and efficient.
Bad Points: There were long black hairs (not mine) on the bathroom floor, which have obviously not been cleaned. Cleanliness is vital to me and I felt I paid a sufficient rate for the bathroom to be spotless.
Further Comments: The overall experience was good. Being adjacent to a busy road, it was a little noisy. The biggest plus was it's locality; near to a conference where I had to give a speech the following day.

Good Points: Location and staff.
Bad Points: The hotel generally appears somewhat tatty. Our room, a suite, was very tired - window frames in need of clean and repaint, radiator hanging off wall, bed mattress very worn. Also room was very dusty.
Further Comments: Overall the room was really in need of a re-fit and a thorough clean.

Good Points: Friendly staff.
Bad Points: Slightly hard bed and synthetic pillows/blankets.
Further Comments: Friendly staff. Easy to find, attractive hotel and garden. Good quality, reasonably priced a la carte dinner and bar food menu and excellent breakfast. Good sized bedroom. Road noise in morning rush hour in bedroom at front of hotel, so would have requested room at back if I were sensitive to this.

Good Points: Location, staff and service, quality of food
Bad Points: Bed uncomfortable, room too hot
Further Comments: Excellent and charming hotel. Rooms and bathrooms require some upgrading and air condtioning is required. The Hotel already has a lot going for it. The suggested changes would give it an extra star!

Good Points: The food was excellent, not cheap but value for money. The staff friendly and welcoming. Also very amenable. The hotel had character
Bad Points: There were certain things that could have made the stay more comfortable, for example the radiator in main bedroom did not work (room cold) and the radiator in the suite was turned on full (room very hot) as if to compensate for the broken one. Hot tap on the bath faulty, it was situated too close to the tiles so akward to turn. The water from this tap for the majority of the stay was either a trickle or none at all. Luckily once we did manage to run a bath for our one year old child, however, when we then came to run a bath for us later that evening we had no hot water at all. No shower mats allocated to rooms, had to ask at reception if requiring one. The Saturday night disco started up at 10.30pm, could hear every word of music and dj.
| Further Comments: An enjoyable weekend overall. The hotel had helpful, friendly staff, the accommodation was generally comfortable but they could have done small things to have improved it. For example radiators that worked and the temperature could be adjusted. A hot water tap that worked effectively not just a trickle. Bath mats could be placed in the rooms as standard.
Compliments to the chef, the food was first rate. Good size portions and very tasty. We had difficulty getting an afternoon tea for our one year old child. If the restuarant had been more flexiable in its hours this would have been a really good facility and made things easier. We would certainly use this hotel again but would not be too happy paying the full rate. |

Good Points: A clean room & bathroom & a good sized bath with plenty of hot water.
Bad Points: A slight smell of smoke in the bedroom.Only one chair in room.
Further Comments: We would have liked to have known that the Hotel had changed hands 2 months before we went & that agency chefs were being used. ( This resulted in the same Dinner menu for 4 nights running) However, the meals were of a high standard & the serving staff could not have been more friendly & helpful. The Dining room was spotless & a most pleasant room in which to eat.We would have liked to have known whether or not our room was to face the river or the road.
