Good Points: Large spacious room which was very clean.
Further Comments: The hotel was ideally situated up above Ilfaracombe Harbour and was about 1/2 mile walk away from shops and all the activity in the Harbour itself. The hotel was very clean throughout and the service from the staff was fast and friendly. Our room was large and also very clean with excellent decor. The breakfast was very good indeed with everything on offer from a full english to cereals and fruit, there was also fruit juice and tea or coffee. Whilst we didn't have an evening meal the menu looked superb and I'm sure the quality and service would have been the same. There was also a lounge and well stocked bar. All in all a very enjoyable stay and I would recommend the hotel to people of all ages.

Good Points: Friendly staff,lovelly room,very clean and tidy,good breakfast,in all a very enjoyable break.

Good Points: accueil parfait. vue mer. maison tres confortable.
Bad Points: changer la musique d'ambiance dans la salle de diner!
Further Comments: hotes charmants, ambiance familiale, tres british. Suffisamment proche du port pour descendre a pied (montￃﾩe un peu raide au retour!) et assez loin pour etre au calme.

Good Points: Very clean - Cheerful, freindly, helpful owner. Nice room. No parking problems.
Bad Points: Greater variety with breakfast,variation was available but not generally announced. Evening meal offered.
Further Comments: Varley House is a comfortable small hotel near enough to Illfracombe to walk to the sea front, walking back is the problem - all uphill - would have liked to know this type of information beforehand.The owner/manager is a friendly helpful person with a lot of experience in the hotel trade who makes you feel at home. The room was pleasent with a sea view, and had a large opening window which certainly helped to keep the heat down. My only gripe was that I would have liked to have had a bigger variety for breakfast offered, and perhaps an evening meal offered if required.

Good Points: Our bedromm was a good size with en suite bathroom. We stayed in one of the family rooms. It was a very clean and tidy hotel and the accommodation was excellent. Lovely lounge area for meeting other guests and a small bar to enjoy a nightcap. This is a non smoking hotel resulting in a pleasant and clean smelling environment.
Further Comments: Very enjoyable stay. Would have liked to have known that the hotel is at the top of a steepish hill as walking back from Ilfracombe harbour proved a bit of a challange especially as we're used to living in an area that is fairly flat. However, the walking helped improve our general fitness.

Good Points: I liked the location of the Hotel to the town. Also the hotel was peaceful.
Bad Points: I believe some modernisation is required especially in the little single room I stayed in for 3 nights.
Further Comments: The single room I stayed in was pleasent but required updating. It was also quite small 9ft by 7.5 ft approx. The bed therefore was very small but adequate. Overall for the price and for a weekend break, this hotel was satisfactory. The breakfast was excellent.

Good Points: The accomodation was clean, bright and very pleasent to the eye add that to the warm welcome its great, we stay in many Hotels all over europe and this one is up with the best ones.
Bad Points: I do not beleave any improvements need to be made its fine as it is.
Further Comments: If you are looking for a base in a wonderfull part of the english country side near to the ragged costline of north Devon with may hidden inlets and undevelopped towns and villages then this is the plase to base yourself you will find the location is great the hotel is great and the hosts will aim to help you with all your needs or requirements, its also very quite and relaxing.
