Good Points: Good value for money, clean, quite spacious and good basic facilities
Bad Points: Door lock was very dodgy, window could not be opened for fresh air
Further Comments: As we were there for only one night all i can say is that i felt we received excellent value for money, all the food and accommodation was very adequate whilst not top rate (but you were not over charged and the hotel did not pretend to be something it isn't). The staff were friendly and the breakfast buffet excellent to get your day underway. Also the fact the hotel was in central Alton meant excellent access to local amenities.

Good Points: Central
Bad Points: Bathroom was not well finished and had a particularly poor linoleum floor
Further Comments: A reasonable place to stay if you would like to be in the centre of Alton, our room faced on to the high street and there was some traffic noise but it didn't bother us too much. Kitchen closes at 9.

Further Comments: Room larger than I expected (no 20) and comfortable though some fan noise from outside. Breakfast good with plenty of choice. Well located on main street, with car park at rear. Despite signs about paying in car park, receptionist will give you a ticket to put on your dash that will exempt you from this.

Good Points: Very freindly staff, good location and plenty of parking, food also good.
Bad Points: Floorboards a bit creaky and poor TV reception.
Further Comments: This was my second visit to the Swan, my room on this visit was much better than the first visit, Generally very good value, clean, food good and the staff were very helpful, I will definately stay there again in the future.

Good Points: it was comfortable. Hot water is always a plus
Bad Points: the toilet in the room did not work properly. I was in room 1
Further Comments: It was good. Kind of pricey, but out of the other hotels in the area that i was aware of, it suited me the best.

Good Points: the area - the shops close by, not far to the train station, the staff were helpful and friendly. Leaflets to let you know the local attractions. The bar and restaurant were clean, tables wiped down regularly of crumbs and spilt drinks. Comfy chairs to sit in. Bed quite good not too hard or too soft.
Bad Points: noise late at night(on friday and saturday only), little step down to rooms was not really big enough for feet to be safely put on it straight but ok at an angle.
Further Comments: The hotel was well situated on the main road (not too far from the mainline railway station) but not too noisy from traffic, a decent sized carpark at the rear of the premises. Food and drink areas pleasant comfy chairs and clean tables. Friendly staff and numerous leaflets telling of local attractions. Booking on-line was easy.

Bad Points: en-suit a slight sqeeze, and in need of cosmetic repair. the tv was set up at right angles to the bed, which made viewing whilst resting awkward. whilst understanding this is a very old building, the floorboards in our room were exceptionally creaky.
Further Comments: upon arrival in the carpark, the pay and display meters can be a little off putting, but the free parking display ticket issued at reception was welcoming. the hotel is well situated, the staff are friendly, and the accommodation was comfortable. breakfast was well presented, with plenty of choice. we only stayed overnight, but would use this hotel again.

Good Points: The fact that it was very old.
Bad Points: A bit tatty but overall comfortable.
Further Comments: No lift. The staircase was difficult to carry suitcases. Unsuitable for elderly or disabled people
