| Grey Street Hotel near Newcastle upon Tyne: Newcastle upon Tyne Hotels | |||

| Good Points: Good staff and facilities | |||
| Bad Points: small access/coridoors to some rooms | |||
| Further Comments: The hotel is excellent and would come highly recommended to anyone thinking about visiting newcastle. The location is perfect, with road and rail access as close as could be. Sound insulation was better then expected - I didn't hear anything from outside the room! My only small gripe would be that the hotel is set in an old building, which means that the floor layout is confusing, and the coridoors are narrower than usual - this only matters when you are trying to get to checkout carrying two peoples luggage while hungover!!! | |||

| Good Points: Central location. Stylish furnishings | |||
| Bad Points: The room was very cramped, so much so that it was almosr impossible to avoid stubbing ones toes on the skirting board on either side of the bed. It was very hot when we stayed and there was no air conditioning. Keeping the fan assisted room temperature control on at night was noisy and it was impossible to open the windows behind the double glazing. We we arrived, the room had not been properly serviced so there was only a single supply of towels & one dressing gown. In fairness the staff responded quickly to our requests for more towels - but we were told 'there wasn't a single spare towelling robe left in the hotel.! Made me think that we were really given a single room - however I was assured that all standard rooms are of the same size. The small scale size of the rooms was reflected in the size of the lift - a tight squeeze for two people - and impossible if one had more than an overnight case. | |||
| Further Comments: See above. Small rooms, poor ventilation /air conditioning. Tiny lift - would be very difficult for anyone with more than an overnight case. Breakfast in the attached 'Living Room' is expensive & the choice for continental breakfast is poor. No hotel parking, but there is a nearby NCP which requies a ready supply of ᆪ1 coins. On the postive side, it is a stylish hotel and very centrally located and the staff very helpful - and given the prices of hotels in Newcastle probably quite good value for money if you can deal with the pokey rooms & lift. | |||

| Good Points: Very Contemporary. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby. | |||
| Bad Points: Breakfast very Expensive. No onsite parking which was explained at the time of booking but no reference to the fact that the public carpark nearby costs nearly ᆪ20 for 24 hrs! | |||
| Further Comments: Negative - Too much furniture in the room resulted in a cramped feeling. A minibar or fridge would have been very useful. Breakfast very Expensive. No onsite parking which was explained at the time of booking but no reference to the fact that the public carpark nearby costs nearly ᆪ20 for 24 hrs! Positive - Nice location, contemporary feel, very very clean! | |||

| Good Points: Centrally located and visually stunning. Beautiful room! | |||
| Bad Points: The staff where not up to scratch had to argue with the check in staff not to take 50 pounds off my switch card for incidentals. Then had to wait an hour for an iron. DELUXE Double bed was two twins pushed together!! Other than that a really nice place | |||
| Further Comments: Really good the above few glitches stopped it from been excellent | |||

| Good Points: Modern decor | |||
| Bad Points: I was unable to get a dial-up connection for the internet using the phone line, so I had to pay ᆪ9.95 for the use of broadband when I only required 10 minutes to check my e-mails. There was no bath in my room | |||
| Further Comments: Staff were really friendly and helpful and I will definitely be coming back to the the hotel again | |||
| 40 Young Couple - 07/05/06 |
| Good Points: Rooms are contemporary, clean and very spacious. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. | |||
| Bad Points: On line directions to hotel were extremely poor, wasted an hour trying to locate the hotel. Room service from the 'Livingroom' was unavailable on the night of our stay so food options were limited to panini's - very disappointed with this. | |||
| Further Comments: The lack of room service was very disappointing as we had planned to order food from the Livingroom and could only get paninis from the bar, this did ruin our stay a bit as we were looking forward to receiving some quality food. If we had known this earlier we would have eaten out. | |||
