Good Points: Good size room, with all amenities, Coffee/tea making facilities, hairdryer, trouser press, TV, on suite etc
Bad Points: When refurbishment completed I would imagine one could tick excellant for rooms - But Do not lose the olde worlde charm of this great Hotel
Further Comments: From the moment on entering the hotel, found the Receptionist (Kate)to be charming - lovely, terribly efficient having the forethought to reserve a parking space for us, Dave the Bar Manager, excellant, frindly efficient, curteous. Other Senior Staff John Matt/Mark were very .efficient and could not do enough to make our stay so pleasant. Really could not fault the hotel, only downfall being the hotel is due to close for refurbishment on 4th December 2005 for 4/5 months, which will delay our return to this lovely hotel. I had checked the hotel on line prior to reservation so there was nothing else I needed to know about the George Inn.

Good Points: Location
Bad Points: Total refurbish
Further Comments: We understand that this hotel is just under new management and is to be up graded. At present there are no meals other than breakfast served. Our room had only luke warm water. The hotel location is perfect.

Good Points: The price and convenience
Bad Points: Ventilation - smell of smoke from the bar very noticeable all over the hotel (even in the towels)
Further Comments: A pleasant stay on the whole, although I think the hotel could use renovation (bathrooms, soft furnishings, carpet). Although I know it is not a British custom, I suggest that face cloths should be provided with the towels, as many overseas visitors (particularly US) would expect to find them.

Good Points: Hotel was full of character with a lot of charm about it
Bad Points: Due to uneven flooring and ceilings there was about an inch gap underneath my bedroom door but such things should be expected in such an old building
Further Comments: Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Facilities and staff were excellent although being in the room above the bar it was quite noisy in the evenings.

Good Points: The George in Rye was very central and full of character. It also played its part in the Festival we were visiting.
Bad Points: The bathroom and staircases looked a bit tired but I understand a major rennovation will happen in a couple of months
Further Comments: We enjoyed staying at The George which is a beautiful period building right in the heart of Rye. It was easy to find overnight parking in the Public Car Parks and we were right in the heart of the town and the festival. Breakfast was delicious and there were always diners in the restaurant. The Bar was friendly and the lounge inviting. It was a bit 'homely' ie things were a bit worn but this was a nice contrast to some of the highbrow hotels in the town, and I understand that it will be rennovated by next year. Our room was comfortable. The stay at The George added to our experience of being in Rye and district - much better than staying at a chain hotel. Lots of steps and confusing corridors!

Good Points: Room was a good size with a little courtyard outside which was great. There was teamaking in room and a good sized bathroom although the extraction fan made a din when light was switched on. Bed was good size but would have preferred duvets.
Bad Points: Perhaps a little paintwork here and there and a little clearance of shrubs on our patio.
Further Comments: First room I was shown entailed quite a walk over several levels. Obviously most buildings in Rye are very old so this is almost inevitable whereever one stayed in Rye. However, some people may need to know this on booking. I did find the staff very good with a willingness to do all they could to satisfy you. I would certainly recommend it but with the proviso of a fairly easy route to my room.

Good Points: Good value and friendly
Bad Points: Breakfast service was the only minor deficiency.
Further Comments: Thoroughly enjoyable. My wife and I took her mother for a week end break and may have appreciated a lift. As it was mother-in-law's room had the minimum of stairs, thanks to the hotel staff.
