Good Points: Lovely old building. Relaxed and comfortable. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
Bad Points: Showers disappointingly lukewarm.
Further Comments: I wish we could have stayed longer at this hotel. Beautiful old Victorian hotel. Some furnishings seen better days but I think that contributes to its lovely relaxed atmosphere. Staff laid back and friendly. Breakfast beautifully done-perfect tablecloth, service, excellently presented food eaten in a room overlooking lovely scenery. We were going into Sheffield for a concert and the manager took great pains to draw us a map and explain the easiest route. My only niggle was the less than hot shower. Otherwise great.

Good Points: Breakfast conservatory has wonderful views of the valley and food was generally of a high standard
Bad Points: Due to problems with the boilers we had no hot water for two mornings. There was only ever 1 person serving at breakfast.
Further Comments: The hotel was let down by the issues surrounding the lack of hot water and poor service. In particular there was only 1 person serving at breakfast and this was obviously insufficient particularly at busy times. There was never anyone on reception and retrieving our room key became a problem, only solved by not handing it in !

Good Points: Hotel was very good overall the staff were polite and helpful, the food was amazing and the view from the superior rooms were beautiful.

Further Comments: The description on the site was the same as what we should like and what we have got. We are very content. My complements!

Good Points: The room was very large with excellent views and the food was very good, great location
Bad Points: No one on reception when checking in or out, shower curtain dirty and bed linen very worn.
Further Comments: Our overall opinion of the hotel was good but it was let down by a few minor issues, eg staff weren't around when checking in or out also bar left unattended so had to wait for drinks. Overall cleanliness was good but the bathroom was grubby, shower curtain very dirty and sink not clean. The shower also did not work very well.

Further Comments: Bedrooms are comfortable and a good size, the food was excellent and the view over the country side was memberable. Local walks with time estimates and maps are provided.

Good Points: We had a superior double with comfy sofa and good view. Decoration and window frames in need of attention. Good ensuite. Excellent dinner and friendly, attentive staff.

Good Points: The hotel was a generally clean, friendly family hotel.
Bad Points: The music played in the public spaces was too repetative. I don't think I can face Norah Jones anymore!
Further Comments: In general I was very happy with the facilities provided by the hotel. It is clear that the hotel needs some updating in both the fabric of the building and in the level of service, but at the price point everything was acceptable.
