Good Points: the hotel is in a beautiful setting easy to get to

Further Comments: The hotel is or can be very nice, although the lack of atmosphere does it no favours, it has a very good music system but you do not hear it, have stayed there twice and we have come across a few problems during our stays, with no specific reception area and staff that do not really seem to know what they are doing it can get pretty frustrating when all you want to do is book in and the only person who can do it is not about, thats when they have noticed you are there as is when you are trying to check out, although the staff are very friendly it doesnt get you on your way. the rooms are compact and not always stocked efficiently with limited furniture and plug points in location to mirrors ie none, i wouldnt recommend this hotel without first advising of its downfalls, there is no residents bar and smoking facilities are very basic and somewhat non existent, if you just want to get your head down then this place is for you, if however you want comfort a good liquer coffee this is not the place for you its two stars are about adequate and you should bear this in mind when booking, the price you pay does not justify the service or standards you get a little pricey for such basicness

Good Points: Comfortable & simple good value. Very central & easy access. We didn't dine in the hotel, but can highly recommend the authentic Spanish restaurant 100 yards towards the town centre.
Bad Points: Almost perfect apart from the loud music playing in the bar areas, that's why we dined elsewhere.

Bad Points: Room was in old part of building and noise from anyone using stairs or bridge was considerable.
Further Comments: Have used this hotel before and it was excellent on my first stay, when I was in a room in the new part of the building. Hotel is still fine, but rooms in the old building need complete refurbishment.

Good Points: Comfortable room. Lovely quiet secluded garden area. Friendly staff. Excellent food with large choice for breakfast.
Bad Points: The lighting in the room was quite dim which made reading difficult for an older couple we were staying with. It would have been good to have a brighter standard lamp or similar which could be used if desired.
Further Comments: Directions to the hotel were a little vague as the interchange mentioned was more like a slip road off the main road which had become the flyover we were trying to avoid.

Good Points: The hotel has a central location in Fareham with a large car park so I had no worries about where to leave the car. Single rooms were easily available and had good ensuite facilities. A lovely breakfast was served at a civilized hour, 8-10 am.
Bad Points: There was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke in our bedrooms but in fairness the hotel is doing its best to remove this. Windows were opened every day to help to remove this faint smell.
Further Comments: The hotel was a little hard to find as the part that said Red Lion was covered in scaffolding so we drove past it and missed it. Directions to the hotel were clear and helpful and staff were welcoming. We came in very late, after 2am , on Sunday after my son's wedding but the door was opened by the night porter and we were able to make ourselves a cup of tea to help us unwind after a busy and emotional day.I will certainly stay here again when I visit my son and daughter in law.
