Woodlands Hotel near Leeds: Leeds Hotels

Good Points: Exceptionally clean, very professional and friendly staff throughout the hotel.
Bad Points: Minor irritation, lack of electrical socks for laptop and mobile phone charger. Had to unplug minibar.
Further Comments: The hotel staff mde it extremely easy to spend money without you knowing it, which can be sometimes difficult in other hotel chains. Very relaxed atmosphere, we're looking forward to trying Aston Hall in Sheffield!!!

Good Points: From entering the Hotel check in until my departure the entire service of the Hotel was very friendly and professional.It is very obvious that high standards have been set by the Woodlands Owners and have employed persons who certainly achieve their objectives.Every year I stay in over 200 Hotels across Europe / USA and The Far East and this ranks certainly within the top 10 in its category.
Bad Points: NONE
Further Comments: The Hotel in my view was perfect , if I had one tiny comment to offer ( not knowing the area )was to improve the directions to the Hotel perhaps when leaving the M62.

Bad Points: Doors very noisy when being shut. Slightly disturbed sleep.
Further Comments: Lovely hotel in a good location. Great value for money. Lovely rooms, modern hotel with very friendly staff. Definitely one to stay at again both for business and leisure.

Good Points: Elgant, modern furnishings. Details such as room names & descriptions and the relaxed atmoshpere
Further Comments: The hotel is a subtle blend of traditional and contemporary, the result being 'a hotel with a difference'. Being in the interior design business, I found it nice to see modern decor being used effectively in a traditional, stately home environment. The bar and restaurant were extremely elegant yet relaxed and the variety and standard of the cuisine was excellent. It felt more exclusive that other, more expensive hotels I have visited.

Further Comments: The booking had been mis-recorded by the hotel(?), but they more than rectified the situation by putting us in the Penthouse suite! Although i am not sure what would have happened if they had been fully booked.

Good Points: Elegant style, excellent design crisp white complimented with stylish furniture, friendly yet very professional staff.
Bad Points: Yorkshire Breakfast
Further Comments: Overall excellent. I will make sure I try and stay at woodlands on all future trips to Leeds. Comtemporary design was so different to other 'out the box' hotels (Novotel/Hilton/Marriot etc) Attention to quality and detail evident throughtout such as the bed/duvet/pillow/television/slate in bathroom/cherry furniture/veuve cliquot in fridge!!) personal touches lovely such as keyrings, choice of pillow, note on paper in morning. Whoever did the interior design needs commendation with a classic crisp white superbly complimented with the touches such as the artwork, really was different, refreshing and very very well thought out with excellent effect. Exceptionally clean and in excellent state of repair (eg no scuffs on skirting board) which reflects a hotel with pride in itself. Staff friendly yet professional, well presented and seemed happy. Steak was lovely, restaurant again very very individual and enjoyable. The only thing (and this is a very small one) was the yorkshire breakfast, tasted average, like the sausages were from Tescos. In Malmaison and Shire hotels they take pride in buying and advertising local produce, local thick cream yoghurts and big farmhouse sausages with free range eggs, an attention to detail I thought would compliment the rest of my Woodlands experience. I will (and have already) recommend Woodlands to anyone I know staying in Leeds.

Good Points: We thought the hotel was excellent.
Bad Points: The service in the hotel was poor. We waited an age for our breakfast and to check out!. The same chap checked us in, showed us around, took our breakfast order, served us and checked us out the next day!

Good Points: All over high standard of cleanliness, and comfort. Great bedroom/bathroom and breakfast.
Bad Points: Hodden room has light on outside all night-if you like sleeping in the dark.
Further Comments: The hotel is not that easy to find in the rain and dark, as the sign is not very well lit. It is though worth finding. The rooms are very well appointed, and very comfortable. We were in Hodden room, which was quiet large, and had a wonderful en-suite with airstream bath and shower. All the rooms are different. This room is over the main entrance, and the light is on all night, this did not cause us any problems, but does mean that the room is not pitch black. The breakfast is included, and well worth getting up for. The staff are very helpful. Just remember to get a code to get out of the car park. No complaints at all, we're going to stay here next time we are in the area.

Good Points: The room was lovely and the attention to detail was appreciated. The lady on the front desk was very helpful and a pleasure to meet.
Bad Points: The hotel seemed understaffed, there was a mix up over room service and there wasn't any information in the room about checkout time. We also didn't have a white bathrobe in our room, which I had been looking forward to!
Further Comments: The hotel had a very relaxing feel to it. The decor (white linen and dark wood and leather) was very clean and crisp. The attention to detail was appreciated (flowers on the breakfast table) and the food was delicious. The art work really caught my eye - each piece was well placed and well chosen. I didn't go into the bar but my partner told me that it was very smokey. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Good Points: The hotel had a very modern and contemporary feel. The Rooms and the whole hotel were done out very well and it looked very expensive. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Bad Points: It was a little quiet in the dinning room, I would have felt more comfortable having a conversation if the music had a bit louder.
Further Comments: I would definately recomend this hotel, the rooms are fabulous and the food is great. The rooms have great amenities, whirlpool bath, flat screen televisions, fully stocked mini bar, and furnishings to die for.. it would make a great romantic weekend away!
