Good Points: Quiet and comfortable. Discreet service. Excellent food.
Further Comments: This is a gem of an hotel. 'Though almost full, it was quiet and peaceful., No piped music, or people on the way from the pool, gym or golf course. Unlike many 'Country House' hotels, this one is just that. Not a few restored public rooms and facade, with a modern accomodation block behind. All the rooms are original. The restaurant was a little pricey, but the food was local, tasty and imaginative. Coupled with a friendly and knowledgable maitre d', the experience was very pleasant

Good Points: Good quality room and lovely setting for a hotel
Bad Points: Only the use of a shower curtain rather than a screen -they cling to you when showering
Further Comments: The building and setting of Crathorne Hall is impressive and relaxing. My bedroom was thoughtfully set out using good quality furnishings, etc., without being ostentatious. This made for a very relaxing evening. Quite reasonably priced (through activehotels) and as such very good value for money.

Good Points: Nice warm, clean cosy room, and friendly staff.
Further Comments: On arriving at Crathorne Hall, it was like something out of Brideshead Revisited. The hall itself seems to have a lot of history, dating back to 1903. Our room was a good size and very clean. Staff are friendly. A nice touch was a decent size tv and dvd player in the room, with films available from reception. Drinks and meals were also reasonably priced. Overall a very pleasant stay, and would recommed a stay at this hotel.

Good Points: I liked the hotel grounds and the spaciouness and style of the main corridors. The gardens and architectural style are lovely.
Bad Points: We had a group family booking and the accommodation quality varied. Our room, Cleveland, was dark, poorly lit and looked tired. It was very cold until we turned heat on but this took several hours to come to comfortable temperature. The room was small in comparison to the others, and we had to edge around the television.
Further Comments: We attended as a bulk family booking for 11 people. The hotel was fine as a base but beware expensive bar prices. Some of the bedrooms were lovely, ours happened not to be! The staff were delightful - very willing, polite and helpful.

Good Points: Very impressive building and location. Very attentive and helpful staff
Bad Points: Our particular room was near/above kitchens so some extractor fan noise, otherwise could not be faulted
Further Comments: An impressive hotel with excellent service and restaurant.

Good Points: Large clean and comfortable with all necessary facilities expected of a hotel of this quality
Bad Points: no lift to top floor and no air conditioning in room
Further Comments: If I had known how obliging, courteous and attentive the staff were, I would have stayed here ages ago. As a Director of an organisation that trains hotel staff at all levels throughout the world, I am pleased to say that this level of service is comparable with the best that can be offered in the Middle East and the best of the Riviera. The difficulty of course is can they keep it up?

Good Points: General condition of the hotel and rooms was good with everything tidy, working and not looking like it hadnt been touched for thirty years. Very good breakfast, properly served with great view.
Further Comments: A top quality hotel that was reflected in the general condition of the facilities , standard of service and quality of food . I shall return ............

Good Points: Although no bath, the shower was clean, modern and of a good size.
Bad Points: Badly stained carpet in the bedroom.
Further Comments: Extremely attentive staff who all appeared genuinely interested in making the stay enjoyable. Some of the fabric of the building starting to look a little faded, although not detracting from the experience. Dinner was good, but not exceptional (more nouvelle cuisine than North Yorkshire). Wine list was good quality, but a 'house wine' option at a little lower cost would be appreciated by thos eworking within company expense account rules. Overall very satisfactory and a pleasant cahnge from the major chain hotels. Somewhere I would use again for a leisure stay as well as for business.

Good Points: The splendour of the old building, and the staff could not do enough for our party.
Bad Points: Nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Further Comments: The stay at crathorne hall was for a wedding and from start to finish the staff could not have done anymore than they had to help make it the most memorable day that it was. We stayed in the farndale room and it was very comfortable and spotlessly clean,And for my wife and i it was very good value for money and we would definatly book to go there again. If there is one complaint it would be that anyone with a mobility problem should be made aware of the amount of stairs and passage ways that are to be walked to reach ones room.

Good Points: Clean and comfortable
Bad Points: Lack of TV channels, should have more choice
Further Comments: In general it was a pleasent stay, the cost of the evening meals were higher than I was prepared to pay and difficult to justify those prices, I should imagine a number of your guests walk to the pub in the village or go into Yarm

Good Points: Pleasant staff. Beautiful house, and grounds.
Bad Points: Small room, no bath.
Further Comments: Would have liked a more extensive dinner menu - only 1 vegetarian option. The food, although very good and presented beautifully, would not suit people seeking a more 'hearty' meal. Cheapest bottle of wine was ᅡᆪ20. ᅡᆪ15 for 2 gin and tonics. The staff were all fantastic, and just couldn't do enough for you - top marks. We booked on-line and were a little dissapointed with the room which was on the top floor and must have been one of the smallest out of the 37 available.

Good Points: Nice decor
Bad Points: Awkward kettle arrangements, cleanliness and unservicable desk lamp (bulb missing. No Air con.
Further Comments: Arrogant bar staff serving well overpriced drinks. Room could do with a deep clean Breakfast - orders for me and surrounding tables were wrong, when challenged the arrogance of some staff came through again. Suggest fitted exterior lighting to the fron where the outdoor tables are before you get sued for someone tripping over. Its predictable that during hot evenings people want to sit outside.
