ML Lodge near Cardiff: Cardiff Hotels

Further Comments: Further to the above between 1.00a.m. and 4.00a.m. the noise/fighting/bad language was quite frightening which started again at 7.00a.m. with the continuous slamming of the door together with a very strong smell of smoke. We will never stay at the M.L.Lodge again but would certainly consider staying at the Sandringham

Good Points: good check in, some flexibiltiy with checking out, good facilities, nice shower, very clean bathroom
Bad Points: carpet was really stained which gave impression room was not very clean - really could do with new carpets because this really lets the place down
Further Comments: Nothing to add - only, I would not recommend to friends because of the really stained carpet - which is a real let down because otherwise the room was nice.

Good Points: Well situated in the city.
Bad Points: Single room was located right next to ?hotel generator.Very noisy.Spent a sleepless night.
Further Comments: Hotel was easy to find.Staff were very helpful and welcoming.Room was adequate but was right next to ?generator/boiler which was very noisy.In the bathroom-shower door did not shut properly,window curtain was hanging off the rail and there was hair left around the tap in the sink.

Good Points: it was close to everything - clean and tidy
Bad Points: Lots of stairs. The internet refers to this lodge as the M & L Lodge but nobody really new where it was, it is not well marked. Nor was the Sandringham Hotels sign very easy to see.
Further Comments: We found the accommodation clean, tidy and very adequate for the price and having a nice breakfast included in the price was a pleasant bonus. I would certainly refer it to people who are looking for good accommodation at a reasonable price. Staff are also very pleasant.

Bad Points: 99 steep steps up to bedroom 8 in ML Lodge!
Further Comments: The staff at reception during check-in were friendly. It was inconvenient to have to leave ￃﾂￂﾣ20 for the room key as I had to go and search for a cash point (maybe you could have it as a condition that you could add price to credit card if not returned?). The breakfast staff were very friendly, one older lady in particular was fantastic.

Good Points: The friendly, helpful staff
Bad Points: The ML lodge is unmanned so nobody is aware what is going on there. There was a full on screaming fight at 3 in the morning with doors being kicked and men and a woman screaming. We felt vulnerable up there on our own. Visitors should be made aware on booking that this is an unmanned part of the hotel.
Further Comments: I would have liked to be more informed of the ENORMOUS number of stairs we had to climb to No 8. I know stairs are mentioned on the website but I don't think it was explained clearly enough. On the whole, an adequate stay. But we will not be returning or recommending you to our friends for the reasons I have given above.

Good Points: its right in the middle of the city
Bad Points: we've been staying there for the past 3 or 4 years and its gradually getting shabbier and shabbier...mould in the bathroom and everything looks a bit tired and grubby
Further Comments: the staff are always so helpful and friendly and the breakfast is lovely. but we felt a bit let down by the cleanliness and will think about staying somewhere else next time...even if it means paying more.
