Good Points: The convenience for visiting Cuddesdon College, family studying there, and a University event in oxford.
Bad Points: The hair dryer was inefficient.
Further Comments: Just good, warm and quiet once the bar had emptied. A quiet night's sleep.

Good Points: We found the staff friendly and the food was good.
Bad Points: The room was very poor it had very old/used stained carpet. The bathroom was very unclean and in a poor state of repair.
Further Comments: Given that the room was in a very poor state it made the room seem very expensive. Further to the comments in previous question the tea and coffee making facilties weren't replaced for the second night the water glassed hadn't been clean/replaced. There was no mirror in the bedroom.

Good Points: It's quaintness
Bad Points: It was difficult to find, to get to and from Oxford and the M. The carpet on the floor was very dirty and spotted.
Further Comments: Had we known the location and condition of the place we would not have booked this place.

Good Points: Very beautiful location, nice rooms, good breakfast.
Further Comments: We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel, in spite of the directions. The locations was beautiful and quiet, and it was very easy to get to Oxford the next day following the directions given by the staff.

Good Points: Good restaurant with a wide variety of gastro pub food. Good bar.
Bad Points: Very small dusty room with a dirty toilet and a light that didnt work
| Further Comments: Nice interesting pub with the added interest of masses of cricket memorabilia. Poor check in system = we stood with our bags for ages before attended to.
Excellent evening meal with a wide variety of gastro pub food
Very small dusty bedroom which was probably worth half the room rate. Very dusty bathroom with dirty toilet (cleaned on day 2) Asked for a larger room and was shown one equally unattractive and just as small. Light was not working. No- one to complain to really. Poor experience. |

Good Points: It was very clean and well provided with everything we could want, the bed was comfortable. Overall the room exceeded our expectations and we would certainly plan to stay again. The staff were freindly and helpful.
Bad Points: two very small points; there was nowhere to put the soap or shower gel in the shower cabinet, and a door somewhere outside the room banged loudly when used, this was not a real problem for us, but could be if it was used late at night.
Further Comments: The pub met all our needs to a high standard for its type, the room was small, but large enough. The shower was a bit weak, but ok. The towels were very good and were changed for our second night. The dinners were excellent and the dining room pleasant, breakfast was ok, but not up to the standard of the dinners. The staff were friendly attentive and professional.

Good Points: Good atmosphere as it is part of a pub. Interesting place with cricket theme throughout, including the names of the rooms instead of numbers on the doors. Lots of cricket equipment on display around the building. Pleasant small village location.
Bad Points: Very small room, with window opening directly onto a public road/pavement at eye level
Further Comments: No real problems or reason to be unhappy. This is a fair place to stay for a short stay/single traveller - linked to a reasonable pub, and with a reasonable restaurant - in a nice rural location - but my room was very small and the bathroom in particular felt cramped. I do remember having to invite the barman to give me my change as he was busy talking to regulars rather than attending to me but this may be just a small mistake.

Good Points: Beautiful location. Very relaxed atmosphere. Great pub.
Bad Points: Breakfast service very poor. Felt we were putting staff out if asking for cooked food.
Further Comments: A very pleasant stay for those who are not too fussy about the finer points. Perfectly serviceable, if not outstanding.

Good Points: Friendly, welcoming, comfortable and cricket-orientated
Bad Points: Maybe a lick of paint on the rooms here and there
Further Comments: In a perfect countryside location within easy striking distance of Oxford, the Bat & Ball offers friendly and comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. Don't expect the Ritz, but do expect to be impressed with the cricketing memorabilia and the excellent pub food on offer, again at reasonable prices. Couple this together with an excellent, well-kept beer cellar, then this place is perfect for both business and leisure travellers alike.

Good Points: Food was first class.
Bad Points: Shower was not very good, changable temp.
Further Comments: Food was very good and I would recommend eating at the hotel. Book restuarant at weekends, it was very busy. Rooms very simple and smallish, okay for overnight could be problem for longer stay.
