| Good Points: The room was comfortable and a decent size and overlooked the generous car park so was very quiet with no traffic noise at all |
| Bad Points: I bought a duster !! |
| Further Comments: The hotel is in a perfect central location for both the sights and amenities and public transport. We didnt need to use a car during our stay. A Sunday arrival by car was very easy. Weekdays might be rather slow.
The breakfast is to be highly recommended.
The staff were polite and friendly.
We understand the hotel is to be refurbished in the near future and does need it but meanwhile the daily cleaning leaves much to be desired. |

| Good Points: convenient for town and good free parking |
| Bad Points: rather off-hand service overall which became dreadful at breakfast, with long waits, dirty tables and poor attention to detail |
| Further Comments: The hotel was convenient for the town as it was only a few minutes outside the city walls. The parking was conveient and reasonably secure. The hotel decore was rather uninspiring and the room a little dated. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The TV didn't work very well. The general level of service was adequate, however at breakfast time this was not the case. We arrived two days running to staff who ignored you and kept you waiting, and on the 2nd morning to no clean tables and no cutlery, crockery etc. The overall price of the hotel seemed high given the decor, poor attention to detail and inadquate, disorganised breakfast service. |

| Good Points: Comfortable, clean, good food, pleasant and helpful staff. |
| Bad Points: Electrics inadequate, (sockets too few and inconveniently positioned). Shower inadequate, with no shower curtain. Our room was on the second floor, up two very steep and long flights of stairs, with no warning to us. No lift so there was a problem. |
| Further Comments: The stay in the hotel was generally very pleasant. The food, staff and arrangements were generally very good. The problems of the awkwardness of the socket placement in the room, the very poor shower and the extraordinarily steep stair(without warning) were major drawbacks. It would otherwise have been excellent. |

| Good Points: Central location to York City.Good access to amenities, good secure parking. Good breakfast |
| Bad Points: Room small, bathroom not very clean and in need of maintenance. Room Room location subject to extreme traffic noise and rowdy public in the street throughout the night. |
| Further Comments: Overall an acceptable hotel, let down by the poor condition of the bathroom, the size of the room, more a single than a double room. The traffic noise and rowdy behaviour by the public during the night spoilt what should have been a relaxing weekend break.
To use again I would request a room away from the street, and trust that the double room was spacious enough and that the standard of the bathroom was acceptable. |

| Good Points: Very pleasant staff, extremely comfortable bed, good breakfast. |
| Bad Points: The room was in dire need of refurbishment, apart from the bed. |
| Further Comments: This is a nice hotel, where we have stayed several times in the past. We were disappointed this time to have booked a room with a four-poster bed - naturally expecting the room to be a bit special too. The bed was excellent, extremely comfortable, but the bathroom was very sub-standard with a cracked basin, missing loo-roll holder, damaged bath taps and a non-working Jacuzzi (though, to be fair, the Jacuzzi wasn't advertised). We asked for a reduction in view of these defects, and were given one without argument. I would stay there again, though not in Room 8! |
