Good Points: The locality
Bad Points: The evening dinners were very expensive with very poor value for money. I only liked 1 dish on the menu.The room was not cleaned daily.
Further Comments: I would like to have seen a menu. The restaurant did not cater for meals except in the evening. The bar food was only available from 12 till 2 then again in the evening which meant if you wanted anything to eat after 2 you had to go out to get it. The room was not vacuumed daily. Our particular room was not cleaned until 4pm. We had been out all day, left the clean this room sign out, but the room was not touched until after we came back to the room. Considering we paid 315 pounds for a 3 night stay I was not happy.

Good Points: The room was very spacious and had wonderful views.
Bad Points: The bathroom was very small and dated. overall decor fairly dated in the room. We were next to a very noisy water boiler which we heard every morning and night.
Further Comments: The location of the hotel was fantastic, right on the moor. Very little information was offered at check-in such as breakfast times and what was included with our stay, where the bar was etc. The restaurant had a great view of the garden and landscape beyond. A lovely base to explore the area but probably more suited as a hotel for maturer guests. The main building seemed more modern in decor and if I stayed again I would ensure I was not near the boiler.

Further Comments: excellent service from very friendly and helpful staff, enjoyed the quiteness of the rural setting and everything was provided when asked for.

Bad Points: Very little choice from buffet breakfast towards end of mealtime.Items were not replaced automatically and had to be requested from waiters.
Further Comments: Good value for specials but would have been very disappointed if we had paid their full brochure price.

Further Comments: Hotel is in a very pleasant area with beautiful grounds, but the tennis court would benefit from some maintainance work. Drinks from the bar were rather expensive, although the food in the restaurant was fairly priced and very good. Would recommend this hotel for a stay in a quiet location.

Good Points: the room was comfortable and the bed was comfortable with nice fresh bedding.cleanliness of the room was good, we can't fault this.
Bad Points: the room was in desperate need of refreshing decorative wise. the wall paper was rubbed off on the corners and the bathroom really needed up dating.
Further Comments: our stay was very comfortable over all, but the room was a bit tired. this hotel is in a lovely place, but the general condition of our room was a little worn out.

Good Points: BEING FEBURARY THE ROOM WAS VERY WARM AND COSY, BREAKFAST WAS A DELIGHT, STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND LOCATION WAS PERFECT
Bad Points: SMOKING IN THE BAR WWHILE WE WERE EATING
Further Comments: THIS WAS A BIRTHDAY TREAT FOR MY WIFE AND ALTHOUGH WE LIVE IN DEVON AND DID NOT HAVE THAT FAR TO TRAVEL WE HAD A GREAT STAY. THE BREAKFAST ON THE MORNING WAS EXCELLENT AND ON THE FIRST MORNING THE BUFFET WAS SERVED TO US, ON THE SECOND MORNING IT WAS SELF SERVE DUE TO A WEDDING PARTY AND GUESTS STAYING OVER BUT BOTH MEALS WERE VERY GOOD. WE HEARD NO NOISE AT ALL FROM THE WEDDING PARTY AND ENJOYED SEEING THE DARTMOOR PONIES ON THE FRONTLAWN IN THE MORNING. CONSIDERING THAT THE HOTEL IS ON DARTMOOR THE GENERAL UPKEEP OF THE HOTEL IS GOOD AND THERE ARE AREAS THAT NEED ATTENTION BUT I HAVE STAYED IN HOTELS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD THAT ARE IN A FAR WORSE CONDITION THAN THIS ONE.
