Good Points: Location, leisure facilities
Bad Points: Breakfast was less than adequate
Further Comments: Generally a decent hotel for the price. Family room was on the third floor and lift was not working. Breakfast portions were very small and we didn't get the items we asked for. That aside, it was ok.

Good Points: Accessible for disabled persons
Bad Points: Smell from the bathroom
| Further Comments: The staff were very helpful. I was taking my disabled wife and elderly mother, who has mobility problems, for a four day break. I did find the dinner prices high for what was provided. I disliked the habit of charging extra for items such as cheese/biscuits when ordered as desert. There were similar examples on menu. Also, the service was rather slow on a couple of evenings. My wife and I enjoyed the Spa facilities. Taking an elderly person with us meant that we could not leave her alone in the hotel. The pool, sauna, etc. meant that we could relax in the hotel. In fact, now I'd not go for a break at a hotel without them.
The only thing that I'd like to have known before booking the accommodation would have been an indication of the base price of the dinners (ᅡᆪ15.99 each). My two charges both ate very little but having the meals 'in-house' was an important part of our break. |

Good Points: The staff were very friendly & efficient.
Bad Points: The decoration & facillities at the hotel were very tired & it definitely needs to be refurbished. Also the quality of the food was poor. It didn't appear to have been prepared by a trained chef. I thought it had been prepared elsewhere & heated in your kitchens!
Further Comments: The staff were lovely & very hardworking, but the hotel's decor, food etc needs to be reviewed. I didn't think staying in the Scotland Hotel was a pleasurable experience & it offered poor value for money. The only saving grace was the quality of staff employed there.

| Further Comments: From the web site the hotel looked and sounded just what we were looking for.
We were travelling with my wifes parents and our 11 year old daughter. So I booked one family room and a double room.
On arrival the hotel still looked impressive from the outside, inside though was a very different story. The hotel has clearly seen better days and whilst it is being redecorated it would seem to be a cover up job only having seen the decorators painting over previous layers.
Whilst the room for my inlaws was light and airy and a good size when I opened the door to our room I was very disappointed. The room was small and very dark with one window opening on to what I assume was the roof of the kitchen and two furher windows looking into an enclosed shaft. Not a breath of fresh air to be had and constant noise from either air conditioning or some other form of ventilation.
We could also hear kitchen noises after service and were woken by the same in the morning with the crashing of china nad other equipment.
The room was unbearably hot even with ass many windows open as possible. The cost at ᅡᆪ100.00 was very poor considering the previous nignt we had stayed in a lovely guest house in Fort William for ᅡᆪ85.00 for a large airy room with a view and an excelent breakfast.
I suppose we were paying for the leisure facilities.
The food in general was good.
Overall my experience of the hotel was very disappointing especially for one linked to Best Western. I felt that as a family we were not considered important. |

Good Points: Room was clean and comfortable
Further Comments: Hotel was good. Online booking requires updating for current smoking legislation and new phone number. Currently online booking gives an option to reserve a smoking/non smoking room. We requested a smoking room as this hotel was the only one with this option on on line booking. When confirmation come through the details regarding smoking were unclear. when using the contact number from the web site, I was advised that it had changed and had to re-dial. I was then advised by reception about your current smoking policy.

Good Points: very handy to meet up with friends and very central
Bad Points: breakfast
Further Comments: When my son and myself went for breakfast we were shown to a lovely table for two but when we returned with our cereal and fruit juice the staff had shown another couple to our table - I had left my bag and the room keys on the table. So I asked the waiter for another table he took a long time to decide where we could sit. There must have been 10 empty tables but he decided to brush the the crumbs off the table onto the floor and said we could sit there. I have never been in a hotel before when I have had to have breakfast at a table with a dirty table cloth. A young girl took our order for breakfast I order the full breakfast and my son only wanted tea and toast -he is still waiting for his tea and toast and I am still waiting for my toast and coffee. We sat for a long time expecting them to bring it . We are still waiting. I told the girl on receiption my concerns but she just took my ᅡᆪ100 and smiled. Maybe that is how they treat all there guests that just stay one night!!!!! The hotel is in a lovely part of Scotland, maybe we were there when they were short staffed. Our rooms were lovley - we have two rooms in the Victorian house across the street.very quite.

Good Points: The staff at Reception were polite and friendly.
Bad Points: Very shoddy, dreary. No shelving in the bathroom, to even place your toothbrush! Very noisy.
Further Comments: Every floorboard in our vacinity (room, bathroom, corridor outside, floor above etc, squeaked. Even the doors in the corridor squeaked. The walls were thin therefore there was very little privacy. Apart from the Reception, the hotel had an old, musty smell. The walls and woodwork in the room and corridors were chipped, marked and badly needing a coat of paint. The room was small, although we were told this was one of their bigger rooms. It overlooked the kitchens/bar and there was a lot of crashing of bottles etc into bins. Generally a very noisy hotel, badly needing refurbished.

Good Points: Spacious accommodation in a quiet location.
Further Comments: We enjoyed our stay as we have done in the past. Our only complaint was that the dinner (main course) was not as good as the food we have had in the past. The service took a long time and other guests who arrived after we did, had been served and left the restaurant before we had received our main course. The salad was certainly not as stated in the menu and was certainly not value for money. My wife is a diabetic and felt she had to eat quickly and therefore could not wait any longer. We mentioned this to the waitress at the time and also mentioned it to the Receptionist when we left the restaurant, who said she would mention this to the Hotel Duty Manager and get back to us. We heard nothing and we mentioned this again to the Receptionist on duty when we left. She had no note of our complaint and did offer to let us speak to the Manager, but quite frankly we felt something should have been done by them and simply paid the bill and left.

Good Points: The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel was peaceful and relaxing. service was friendly throughout stay.
Bad Points: The bar facilities could be more like a bar it felt ver much like a reception area, however was clean and comfortable.
Further Comments: I stayed in the Scotland's Hotel the staff were very friendly and the hotel is in a great location to enjoy Pitlochry. Before or stay we woold have liked to have been informed that during the winter months most facilities are closed and most restuarants and bars closed early. However the facilities that were availaable were enjoyable. We spent an evening in the Old mill bar and it was very cozy with a log fire and the food was really good.
