Good Points: Very conventient to the venue (The Rose Bowl, Southampton). Simple booking, easy check in and check out. An easy experience
Bad Points: We chose a smokers room because my partner is a smoker, but was disappointed that the room had not been aired prior to our arrival. The smell of stale smoke was very strong. We aired the room on our departure, leaving the window ajar to provide a more inviting atmosphere for the next guests. Bathroom needs extractor.
Further Comments: Simple and effective.

Good Points: Good cleanliness, excellent rooms, comfortable atmosphere
Bad Points: Hard pillows and no child friendly play corner/box available- which is quite irritating in this environment. The children were welcome but not able to play whilst we tried to have a drink, and therefore we did not relax making us retire to our rooms quicker than we would of really liked (therefore the bar lost revenue!!)

Good Points: Rooms simple but chic
Bad Points: How to turn on the hairdyer not obvious because wall switch was not easily visible.

Good Points: Comfortable room and adequate facilities. Friendly desk staff. Good selection of breakfast foods.
Bad Points: Unable to use mobile phone (presume signal is blocked inside the hotel) and telephone tariff was not displayed in room. Not sufficient room in breakfast area at time we ate - could not get a table. Could have used a few coat hooks in room - hangers were fiddly and cramped and not the best place to hang wet coats. Only enough clothes space for a short stay. Unfortunately our room (which was certainly very clean) had an unpleasantly musty smell which appeared to be from the bathroom - puzzling in such a new hotel.
Further Comments: Basically good value for money for the short stay traveller - not luxurious but comfortable,clean and surprisingly quiet, with easy access from the motorway and plenty of parking space. But be warned - you won't be able to use your mobile!

Good Points: Attractive lay out in the reception / dining and lounge areas. Clean, well decorated bedrooms. Couch in front of TV, which created a small lounge area. Good continental breakfast. Quiet.
Bad Points: No bath. Small bath towels. Rather hard uncomfortable bed. Very thin, inadequate duvet. No cooked breakfast available. Tinned fruit rather than fresh fruit salad at breakfast bar.

Good Points: very clean, pleasant room. Staff were friendly and eager to be of assistance. Modern shower room, but the shower temperature varied quite a lot. Nice to see staff smiling.
Further Comments: Housekeeping staff should check whether the guests are adults or children. There were mugs and tea/coffee for two adults, whereas three adults were booked in. We did have plenty of towels. When we mentioned the lack of a mug to reception it was immediately put right.

Bad Points: I found on this occasion that the reception staff were not as friendly as I've experienced in the past at other Holiday Inns. I found that they were not accommodating over the fact that I had brought my bicycle with me (in the absence of gym facilities) and would like to have locked this securely at the rear of the hotel or in a soteroom etc. As it was, I had to leave the bike on show in the boot of my car overnight. It seemed that the staff had little concern for car park security or my straightforward request.
Further Comments: Rooms are always good, as are the breakfasts. A clean and tidy hotel all round. It was just a shame that I was uncomfortable about my car and bicycle security overnight. So basically, a great hotel - just don't bring a bicycle!
