Good Points: The Hotel is in a nice setting next to the River Thames. The room was cosy and well furnished.
Bad Points: The bathroom was looking tired and the shower was low so I had to stoop to use it !
Further Comments: There was no acknowledgement from any of the staff. The barman never spoke a word and dinner in the restaraunt seemed to be an inconveience. The food was very average for a 4 star hotel. For breakfast there was no welcome and the service and welcome we received overall was poor.

Good Points: A hotel full of character which is set in beautiful grounds. Rooms are spacious and of a very high stantard.
Further Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The facilities were excellant and the staff very helpful. Our only criticism was the delay in getting into our room but the management made us feel comfortable and retified the problem. Do take your swimming costumes, the pool is excellant and one depth throughout so ideal for children.

Good Points: Pleasant peaceful surroundings with excellent leisure facilities.
Bad Points: Having to leave it behind and go back to the drudge!
Further Comments: We had a really nice relaxing break at the Four Pillars - it's a quality 4*hotel set in spacious grounds right next to the river Thames. Bright and modern with excellent leisure facilities, it's worth coming here just for the pool, spa etc. The room was very clean and well equipped. The staff we encountered seemed very helpful and friendly. Hotel meals, drinks and snacks a bit pricey but that's a common critisism and this place is no different in that respect. The food though was fresh and tasty and the breakfast choice and quality excellent - fortunate as there appears to be no alternative eateries within easy walking distance. Just down the road is picturesque Sandford Lock on the river Thames which is well worth the stroll. There's also a family restaurant type pub place there but get there early if you're hungry as they stop serving food at 8.30 pm, they also don't serve sandwiches on Saturdays and the service is atrocious - settled on the Catherine Wheel just up the road, a good local pub!

Bad Points: We stayed in a ground floor room and had a very bad nights sleep the first night because of the heat, I asked reception for another room on a higher floor or a fan for the second night and she said she would see what she could do, and that turned out to be nothing, she never even got back to me about it.
Further Comments: Nice hotel, but there are plenty just as nice that i feel would be more responsive to their guests needs, so next time I would use another hotel

Bad Points: No flexability on time for breakfast 8am was the earliest
Further Comments: I would have liked the Hotel room to have been available as per my confirmation instead of being told that the Hotel was full and that internet booking is just not practical and then being fobbed off with an inferior hotel in the same group.c

Good Points: The spacious and wellkept grounds, the unobtrusive design of the hotel
Further Comments: Really lovely quiet setting, with good food and very friendly, professional staff who were eager to help. Not sure if the road number off A34 was correct so I missed the junction once but the welcome and ambience of the hotel was worth the extra miles!

Good Points: Very comfortable and welcoming
Further Comments: I was very impressed with this hotel and would definitely stay here again. My room was very comfortable although it was quite a hike from reception through many different corridors and meeting rooms.

Good Points: Layout of hotel and room size
Bad Points: Staff - All staff were miserable and appeared to be lacking knowledge. Reception staff were not competent. They all had a poor attitude towards guests. Just a polite smile would have made all the difference.
Further Comments: 1) My colleague had to wait 15 minutes at reception after signing in to be allocated a room owing to the incompetence of the reception staff. Eventually a Manager was called and a room allocated. To make matters worse, the key did not fit the lock to his room and a once again a senior member of staff had to be called to resolve the problem. She was obviously no happy about being calleed out and made this abundantly clear to all concerned. 2) At breakfast we had finished our meal and were chatting over a cup of coffee. The Restaurant Manager cleared the table. He told us that he needed our table and asked us in to move. 3) The bar area in the hotel was not comfortable and welcoming. We actually walked to a local pub rather than use the hotel bar. Conclusion: The Hotel is fine but for a 4* establishment I would expect better and more polite service from the staff. I would also expect them to be better trained. I have known better service from a Travelodge! Neither I nor my Company will be using this hotel again.
