| Good Points: Four poster bed was comfortable and food was good |
| Bad Points: Shower in en suite and decor, also bar very noisy with continuous Sky sports. Lighting in our room was very poor. |
| Further Comments: Hotel is in dire need of redecoration and refurbishment. The controls to the shower in the double room en suite are ridiculously high being some 6ft from base of shower level. My wife being only 4ft 9ins. could not reach these at all and it was necessary for me to set the shower heat and switch it on and off for her, which is not ideal. The bar was extremely noisy with Sky sports on all the time. We were quite alarmed by the conglomoration of electrical wiring in the bar, particularly below the tv screen. We requested to eat in the dining room on two evenings, the first night we had to alter the time, and took the trouble to 'phone in to the hotel whilst we were in Edinburgh, but the message was not sent to the appropriate staff and the second evening, no one had been made aware that we had booked to eat in the dining room for 8 p.m., we waited 15 minutes and it was necessary to go down to the bar to remind them that we were waiting in the dining room to order our evening meal. However when the meals were served the food was good and hot, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the service was good. The lighting in our room was very poor, not even bright enough to read a book. One of the lights over the bed had no bulb, we reported this but nothing was done about it. We requested skimmed milk in our room, but the request was ignored. |

| Good Points: As a woman staying independently I found staff were friendly and helpful. Very convenient for public transport into centre of Edinburgh. |
| Bad Points: Was sorry that porridge on the menu was not available! |
| Further Comments: This hotel offered good value for money. The website advised that the hotel was 20 mins walk from the city centre, I think this was an optimistic estimate. It took me a good 3/4 hour from Waverley Station and I am not a particularly slow walker. A hint to best route for those arriving on foot would be helpful. |

| Good Points:
Beautiful room. Friendly staff. Easy to find with ample parking. |
| Bad Points:
It took us some time to locate a receptionist when we arrived, but admittedly we arrived late on a Friday night when staff were assisting in the bar area. |

| Good Points: a good sized room and shower room. with all the required facilities |
| Bad Points: was disturbed by noise from function suite until 2.30am |
| Further Comments: would have liked to have known that there was a possibility of a function taking place with an extremely late licence. therefore could have asked for a room away from suite if possible. |
