Further Comments: I actually made the incorrect booking of a 'twin' room - which is 2 beds, when I actually wanted a double bed. It's the first time I booked a hotel, so I think better explanations of what each room has in it would have helped. I won't make the same mistake online again! Otherwise it was lovely, the food, good service. No-one helps you with your things or takes you to your room though, which we found quite strange, you need to find your own way there.

Good Points: breakfast was the best part of our stay
Bad Points: the poor standard of finish in our room (especially the bathroom)and the cigarette burns in the bath of our non-smoking room was not nice either
Further Comments: The hotel in my mind was not value for money, with the lack of quality to our rooms decor and our cigarette burned bath (217) we were to make an early start in the morning an decided to retire to bed early but we were woken by loads of crashing bottles supposedly from the bar at 22.35, this then happened again at 23.15 this did not impress us at all.

Further Comments: Excellent accommodation and restaurant dinner and breakfast food options were very good. Service staff satisfactory.

Good Points: We had a family room which was very well designed giving my 14 year old son some privacy as we were mother and son traveling together.
Further Comments: The food was magnificent both the evening meals and the wonderful breakfasts. The waiters were pleasant and efficient, as were those in reception.

Bad Points: Nothing but could have made more of the fact it was a lovely walk into oxford, beautiful surroundings
Further Comments: I was pleasantly surprised by it's location and how near it was to Oxford, and the fact it's a lovely walk ithe town centre along the river. It was a very relaxing hotel, loved the decor and places to sit and have coffee etc - lovely experience

Good Points: The room was a good size, the beds we were delighted to find were very comfortable. Personally I would like a top sheet as well as the Duvet if one finds the Duvet to warm you have no covering.
Bad Points: THE BATH, my friend who is of small stature and elderly found it difficult to climb into and we both felt very unsafe when showering as its surface became so slippy, a better non slip area is needed. Do you have rooms with a shower only? I did not see this in the booking information.
Further Comments: Our stay at Hawkwell House was throughly enjoyabale, we commend your staff on their demeanour and helpfulness thoughout our visit. You have reason to be proud of your restaurant, the choice, presentation, and taste of food was most enjoyable. Please consider something other than Rocket as an accompaniment, perhaps a little overused! The information given on the website is good the only thing I did not find, as I mentioned, was a room with a shower, even if you do not have them it would be helpful to mention it.

Good Points: The room was very spacious, light and quiet. There was a lovely settee and desk area and we particularly liked the superb mattress.
Bad Points: The window opened near to a staircase so although we were on the first floor we didn't feel we could open the window at night and it was a bit hot. Also, the walk into the city was a lot longer than described by the website.
Further Comments: Everything was to a very high standard. The service at breakfast was really good and the receptionists were helpful. The accomodation was lovely but the website talks about the hotel being 30 mins walk from the city centre which is not true. We did it and it took a good 50 minutes at a fast pace. Apart from that it was in a lovely location and very peaceful. The room was clean and spacious and the mattress was amazingly comfortable. We will definitely stay again!

Further Comments: Staff were excellent. Particularly pleased to see the manager stand up for his staff in the face of inappropriate behaviour toward staff on the part of guests at a wedding at the hotel.

Good Points: Good decor, bed comfortable, quiet atmosphere, pleasant view from bedroom
Bad Points: Would have liked a little more privacy from back of main hotel building - our room overlooked the rear of the main hotel.
Further Comments: A very pleasant weekend stay, we liked the decor, lighting and accessories in the bedroom. We particularly liked the paint colour used throughout the Elm House building, where we stayed. The interior of Elm House and its bedrooms were accurately reflected online. Character with a modern touch and a very pleasant location near to the centre of Oxford.

Bad Points: The matress on our bed was rather uncomfortable.
Further Comments: I enjoyed staying at Hawkwell house, it was a very peacefull and friendly hotel and the staff were helpfull and friendly. I had expected the grounds to be a little nmore extensive but it was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the city which was much appreciated.

Further Comments: Generally the hotel is good...the only thing lacking is any atmosphere in the hotel...staff seem aloof. We would not stay there again but overall nothing wrong with the accom - positioned in generally residential area but close to city. Food reasonably good. Rooms clean and comfortable.

Good Points: The setting of the hotel just outside the city was nice because it was close enough to get a taxi at an affordable rate but far enough to be able to benefit from peace and quiet and free parking
Bad Points: We experienced a lot of noise on the saturday night because there was a function on in the hotel. I think the hotel should put guests who are clearly away for a quiet mini-break in a part of the hotel which would not be subjected to as much noise. The hotel staff did offer to move us when we complained which was good.
Further Comments: I thought the staff were nice.
