Good Points: Location, situation and overall positioning on road system.
Bad Points: Slamming entrance door to the block we stayed in and the constant noise overhead throughout the night, which seemed like a water tank or air conditioning.
Further Comments: A trfle dissapointed. We would ask for a different room next time.

Good Points: The room was reasonably spacious and well furnished. Full size bath as stand ard. Comfortable bed. Leisure centre well designed and staffed.Very accessable.
Bad Points: The restaurant was supposed to be award winning. In fact it served superior quality convenience food. It did not surprise me to see a Brakes delivery van pulling up outside. There was a problem with the lunchtime portion of crayfish salad -- starter size portion served up as main course. When we complained they added a little more, but as a main course it was still inadequate. The lamb navarin tasted like stewed beef in Bisto. It seems a shame to spoil this very nice hotel with these short-cuts.

Further Comments: Leisure facilities were great - not huge but a good range and quality of facilities (I used the pool, spa pool, sauna and steam room). Room was a good size, with a comfortable double bed. Friendly atmosphere; as a woman travelling alone on business I felt comfortable in the public areas of the hotel such as the bar.

Good Points: The room was in a well appointed quiet part of the Hotel(which we had asked for when booking). It was extremely clean and well supplied with tea/coffee etc. A lovely ceiling and decor apart from the pictures on the walls. The leisure facilities nearby were also clean and with friendly staff. The Hotel is well placed for getting into Cambridge easily.
Bad Points: Our one complaint was the breakfast,something that is ,for us one of the highlights of our overnight stays. We had no complaints about the quality of the food which was excellent( apart from a lack of black pudding with the full English) but the service was dreadful. Asked on arrival, at a pokey themed 'lumber room' whether we wanted tea or coffee and white or brown toast, these finally came with neither milk nor butter. The waitresses disappeared immediately and we only managed to see one again when they reapppeared to serve the only other table in our boxroom. On being asked not only for the missing items but for either a menu or the set breakfast another long wait ensued.We went to fill 2 glasses with fruit juice from a buffet table while we waited and a waiter suddenly appeared with a jug of orange juice and a saucer of butter pats. The meals arrived ....but no salt and pepper ANYWHERE and no sign of anyone to ask.Finally they duly arrived 5 minutes after we finished eating. I was glad I had taken the bargain break with breakfasts included as I would have been insulted if I had been presented with a bill for this additional service.
Further Comments: We would - and probably will stay here again as the Hotel is beautifully placed for us. The Breakfast debacle marred our otherwise lovely stay as the reception staff and those in the fitness centre were charming and our room was delightful.

Good Points: Friendly & helpful staff, pleasant food and comfortable accommodation.
Bad Points: A little pricey.
Further Comments: Friendly welcome, comfortable room, good food, not much to complain about really. Although the hotel is on the expensive side for my purposes, paying a little more for what was very good service and good food is good value in the case of this hotel.

Good Points: Accomodation was clean and very comfortable.
Bad Points: I was in room 302. Above the room in the roof void there must have been some sort of water tank feeding the block's bathrooms and toilets. Whenever a guest used the loo or ran any water in thier bathrooms I was woken up by a very distinctive and loud rumbling sound from the roof area. Very disturbing in the dead silence of the night.....
Further Comments: Thought Breakfast was a bit expensive considering I only had tea and toast, and upon leaving there was a mix up on my bill when I was charged twice the agreed room rate. The situation was resolved quickly and efficiently with all due apologies expressed and accepted. Would certainly use the hotel again. It was peacful (apart from the water tank in the roof), and was nice and close to the Cambridge Park & Ride service which was a very convenient a way to get into the centre of Cambridge.

Further Comments: The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Everywhere was clean and tidy and well kept. Our room was lovely presented and comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Further Comments: Check in was very good and easy. The leisure facilities were also very good, clean and tidy. There was no food served in the afternoon though I may have misread that sandwiches were available all day and night ? We visited the restaurant in the evening and were very disappointed with the service, my guest was served her starter and I was left waiting, after about 10 mins I asked if my starter was on it's way, the reply was a blunt yes. After a further few mins the restaurant manager came and explained my starter selection had not got to the kitchen. A further ten minutes later it arrived. After our meal I asked for a coffee and again after about 15 mins we decided to go to the bar and have a drink I couldn't be bothered asking for the coffee by that point. Check out was easy as well though I got charged for a coffee the previous evening, the one I didn't get. After the receptionist spoke to a supervisor this charge was taken off. I appreciate there was a large function on that evening but we took the advice of your staff and ate at 7.30pm to avoid the busy period of 8.30pm when the party were being served. I have visited 4 great Western hotels in the UK, Ireland and France over the last couple of years and I am pleased to say this is the only time the service has given me cause to complain especially as I had explained to my guest how good your hotels are.

Further Comments: We had been to a family funeral and wanted somewhere to chill out before driving home the next day. I had seen the hotel from the road many times and looked it up on the internet. We loved it; it was just right, the food in the restaurant was great and the room was just right to relax in. The breakfast next morning was great too. we spent a couple of hours in Cambridge too before going home to Derbyshire. I would definatly stay again when next visiting family

Bad Points: the only problem was an extremely noisy neighbour, but this is not the hotel's responsibility.
