Good Points: Good sized room and bathroom facilities
Bad Points: The bedroom was near the stairs with fire closing all night causing disturbed night sleep
Further Comments: I would like to see soft closures on all internal stairway doors in this hotel as a good nights sleep in a hotel is paramount

Good Points: facilities,beautiful room and setting of the hotel
Bad Points: just one thing let it down. main course of the dinner menu was disappointing. veg not thoroughly cooked. quantity too small. hearty apetites stay away!. this didnt spoil overall very enjoyable stay.
Further Comments: as above. would advise you to pay attention to the a la carte dinner menu. it really wouldnt have gone to round 2 in master chef in our view. otherwise a lovely hotel.we will be back.

Good Points: Hotel staff very helpful, beautiful views, excellent position close to glentress forest for mountain biking- the purpose of our visit.We have stayed here before.
Bad Points: My only complaint would be the poor quality matress on the bed, room 316, - very hard with obvious springs digging in.I used the top tarten cover under the bottom sheet to aid comfort on the second night which was better. I actually always travel with my own pillow but everyone else in group all also said pillows very hard.

Good Points: clean and modern with a friendly atmostphere.
Bad Points: nothing that I can think of except the pool was too cold for me and no jacquzzi.
Further Comments: we booked at the last minute as I am ill and I wanted to give my husband a break. on the internet for Peebles Hydro but was full, so hence your hotel and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellant and all staff very friendly.

Further Comments: I stay in a different hotel virtually every week and this is the only hotel i have ever been to that could not cater for all the hotel guests in the restaurant. Given it is in the middle of nowhere this is extremely poor. Dont go to this hotel if you get hungry.

Good Points: Good sized room, lovely bathroom.
Bad Points: Original room was on the front of the hotel which is next to a noisy road. Also smokers from the bar gather outside reception until late at night at weekends (3am on the Friday), and disturb guests in nearby rooms.
Further Comments: I would have liked to know that the hotel was on an A road as I would have asked for a room at the back. However, it was a pleasant room, and when we had a problem with the electrics cutting out, we were moved promptly and without fuss. This also got us away from the noisy late night smokers. The breakfast was very good on two days, with a cold buffet and hot food cooked to order. However on the last morning the hotel was so busy that a banqueting room was used as an overflow, with the hot food kept warm and served buffet style. In addition, instead of a proper pot of tea, guests had to make their own in a cup with a tea bag and hot water from a flask. This was rather disappointing for a hotel of this standard.

Further Comments: Enjoyable visit - pool quiet and good for kids. Drinks very expensive. Have a 'coctail lounge' with bar staff who don't know how to make any! Check in experience efficient but staff seem to be reading a script - lacked the genuine touch- check out far better.
