Taplow House Hotel & Restaurant near Reading: Reading Hotels

Good Points: The hotel was everything one would expect for its class. The staff friendly helpful and efficient, the room was excellent, as was the restaurant.
Bad Points: A minor comment: Wireless internet access should be included in the room rate as it was in other hotels of this class where we stayed on this trip.
Further Comments: Our overall experience was excellent. On check-in we were given a room upgrade, which was a nice touch. The room was quite comfortable and well appointed. The staff were helpful, friendly and took time to chat. The restaurant was excellent. We particularly liked the menu which offered individual wine pairings with each dish. We also liked the extensive grounds, which could not be enjoyed to the fullest because of the season. This hotel would be a good choice for a special occasion such a birthday, anniversary, or a romantic getaway. Best time would be spring, summer, or early autumn when the weather allows full enjoyment of the grounds.

Good Points: The hotel is set in very fine grounds and has a nice country house feel to it. It offered great value for money.
Bad Points: The shower in my room had very little water pressure except whenit was scalding hot!

Further Comments: The booking was not for myself but for my daughter and partner who arrived home from china on a delayed flight and missed their connection . I would like to thanks the staff or their attention to detailand quality of service which meant my duaghter ( and my wife and i )had a stress free evening I would definitely recommend the hotel to friends

Further Comments: A welcoming atmosphere with polite staff who smile. The service was prompt and excellent. The food served was well prepared and presented. All in all a good experience.

Further Comments: I was trying to find an hotel near to Bray, as we were lunching there, but didn't want to spend a fourtune . I traweled the net and found the Taplow House Hotel which looked beautiful and had a good rate for the Sunday evening. On arrival I had requested drinks and canapes in our room. Reception assured this had been organised and as we entered the room my partner was all smiles. All beautifully presented. The staff were very pleasant, all public areas were great. The only negative comment was that it poured with rain on our arrival late afternoon and into the morning. There are somethings that just can't be helped!

Bad Points: Rooms Smaller than expected for Superior & BOILING HOT without heating on.

Bad Points: The television could be mounted a little higher. It could not be seen from the bed.
Further Comments: Very pleasant hotel. The room was a little small for a 'superior' double. I wouldn't like to see the normal double. Not a good place for vegetarians either. But generally, as a place to escape 'the smoke' I would recommend it.

Bad Points: The carpets in the public areas looked tired. Old fashioned wardrobe which was too narrow for the shoulders of clothes and too short for a full length coat.
Further Comments: We were pleased we booked an Executive room as it wasn't particularly large but was a pleasant standard in every other way. The hotel had an individual charm.
