Thatched Cottage near Bath: Bath Hotels

Good Points: The staff were excelent,polite, and willing to help,not overbearing,but able to be available when needed.You had new staff who were also willing and provided excelent qualities.
Bad Points: As we are new to staying in b/b we cannot realy compare with other geast houses. The only problem was that we could not obtain radio from the t.v, this was reported o he housekeeper, who verified that there was a problem.but the matter was unresolved.The light over the mirror did not work. but these in my oppinion not worth the fuss.W could have done with two chairs, there was only one provided.
Further Comments: The route provided by yourselves was very good, pleasant drive from London,which took appx two and half hours.The location of your cottage though on the main road was [in our view] quiet, it provided easy route to Wells Cathedral and a visit to Clarke Village,and other main sites of interest. We took some walks to the village [but the weather changed for the worse second day]. The general appearance of the reception and layout of both the bar and seating area [lounge] was very comfortable. Our Room was very pleasant, but lacked one easy chair.Prior to our visit your website gave us adequate info.

Good Points: Freindly staff, excellent room and the food was very good.

Further Comments: The superior room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The choice on the menu was excellent and the food was served to a high standard. Breakfast was delicious with a choice, which was cooked to order. Much better than a stay at a larger hotel.

Bad Points: Shower head too low. Not enough shelf space in bathroom.
Further Comments: Good food and service. Our rooms were at the rear with no noise problems.

Further Comments: Very welcoming; attentive friendly staff. Room was very good - underfloor heating very pleasant surprise!; bathroom clean; bed was very comfortable - my husband and I had an excellent nights sleep. Food in restaurant was very good; wine list extensive and not too pricey; staff efficient but not overbearing and overall the restaurant had a very relaxing atmnosphere with no dress code. Breakfast menu was very good - plenty of choice for all. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would recommend it (and indeed have!) and would definitely stay again.

Good Points: The Thatched Cottage was very conveniently located in Shepton Mallet and close to many attractions. The food in the restaurant downstairs was very impressive and good value for money. The bedroom was clean, beds comfortable and the bathroom was practical and beautifully decorated.
Bad Points: Quite close to the road; which was unexpected. The road was a little noisy at times. Closing the window cut out the majority of road noise.
Further Comments: The staff were friendly, approachable and competent. The breakfast was lovely and the Cottage had a relaxed atmosphere. You need to book a table if you are dining at the restaurant as it is popular.

Good Points: The staff were very friendly and were quick to correct anything we might need changing - nothing was too much trouble.
Bad Points: We appreciate the Thatched Inn is a pub and therefore can be smoky after customers in the bar at night time but that did mean that as breakfasters we tended to freeze as every available window and door were thrown open to the elements in and around the breakfast area regardless of the outside temperature!
Further Comments: This place is really convenient for the Bath and Wells Showground - five miutes drive down the road. Our bedroom was a really good size as was the bathroom so you could really come back and relax without feeling claustrophobic as there were easy chairs to relax in as well as a seat and table to access the internet as we had brought our lap top and took advantage of the wireless connection avaiable in our room. We would return most definitely if the need arose.

Good Points: The room was lovely with lots of nice features
Bad Points: The room could have benifitted from air consitioning as it was very hot.
Further Comments: We enjoyed the stay but it was spoilt by the very busy road that our room overlooked. I would only recommened this hotel to my friends if they could ask for a room away from the road.

Good Points: large comfortable bed. lovely bathroom
Bad Points: very hot, no fan supplied. very heavy traffic noise outside hotel which started at 4am.
Further Comments: good. hotel was comfortable, fairly anonymous though. staff were lacking in experience but friendly.

Good Points: Nice rooms, lovely food and great atmosphere
Bad Points: A bit awkward in the morning getting breakfast as no staff on site so had to wait around
Further Comments: If you need to be somewhere early its worth noting that staff not on site so they don't arrive in the morning until 7.30am so the earliest you get breakfast is 8.00am, hence if you want an early start bear this in mind. Otherwise lovely accomadation and lovely food.

Bad Points: room directly over kitchen back door very smelly when window open.very noisy from attic above.
Further Comments: overall nice stay would have preferred less smelly room.would have preferred to have known hotel was on main road by traffic lights.

Good Points: our room had a very pleasant light and airy ambience. bed was comfortable.
Bad Points: being unable to gain access til 6pm. i called the hotel from the car park on my cellphone to try to raise someone to let us in , but there was no reply.
Further Comments: We were disappointed to find when we arrived at 4pm that a notice at the door told us the hotel was closed until 6. On our return, having finally managed to check in we found the room comfortable and well-appointed, except that there was no hairdryer. Particularly liked the cool, white bed linen. I had requested a room at the back of the hotel away from the busy road and we were not disturbed by the traffic, even though we had all windows open on a very hot night. Staff were helpful, although the manager seemed rather distant - perhaps he had been put off by our complaint about the delay in checking-in. The dining room was pleasant, the menu was interesting and not too extensive. Our meal was acceptable but not outstanding (it was a Monday evening - chef's night off?)Our starter was not up to scratch, main courses were better. Service at table was confused. Breakfast was good, freshly cooked and generous.

Further Comments: overall very good, better being at the back of the hotel as close to main road at front. staff on arrival not very informative. make sure ask how to enter pub/hotel if front doors closed during day!

Good Points: We enjoyed the large room and sitting area where we could relax. Also, the location was easy to get in and out of off the main road.
Further Comments: The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the room, the restaurant and the location.

Good Points: Room size was very good and it was very clean
Bad Points: It was over the kitchen and so was noisy and hot. Useful to have a receptacle in the shower to keep shower gel etc. and the TV was very small for size of room.
Further Comments: Staff were delightful, and food delicious. What happened ot Moodarra on wine list?!
