There was thick dust under the bed that was clearly visible when you were sat on the chair.The decor was dark.Dark purple curtains and bed cover.Dark old furniture and black lampshades trimmed with black feathers!.Whilst the breakfast was adequate,we were disapointed as a few people had told us prior to the stay that the breakfasts were fantastic especially the locally produced sausage.The sausage was a cheap and nasty sausage.The toast was put on the table at the same time as the cereal so by the time you came to eat it,it was biscuit like and cold. |

we understood the hotel is undergoing refurbishment at the moment, so I feel it would be unfair to comment except to say that the standard of work already carried out is of a good and clean standard. |

Room was adequate, but furniture was in bad shape and inappropriate for a hotel room (office furniture leftovers). Desk Staff was friendly. Restaurant staff, though not entirely cheery, was sufficient but could have been caught on a bad day. |

| Further Comments: This is an older hotel, however the rooms are clean and the furniture and furnishings are modern. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. I stayed during the week and thought the price to be good value. |

Close to Buxton opera house.Bed was comfortable and warm. |
| Bad Points:
room overlooked main road, as there was no double glazing in room, the noise from road woke us up several times during night. Also water in sink in bathroom did not drain away quickly. |
| Further Comments: Room was bright and large and well decorated. It was a pity about the noise from the road traffic as the bed and pillows were a lot more comfortable than some other hotels we have stayed in.
The parking and drive leading to the hotel could do with some attention. |

| Further Comments: Meals were basic but good. The hotel in parts is in need of decorating. Friendly approachable staff. Location of hotel is excellent. Good value for money. |
