Good Points: Our room was well equipped and the lounge area and dining room of the hotel were attractive and pleasant.
Bad Points: The bedrooms being separate from the rest of the hotel building, i.e. separate from the lounge area and dining room.
Further Comments: Overall the result was fair, but the following factors detracted from the enjoyment of our stay: Background music that was unrelieved classical singing, which can be distracting from pleasant and relaxed conversation. Music is nice so long as it is not at excessive volume and intrusive, and in any event non-vocal is much to be preferred. I mentioned this to the proprietor but he was quite disinterested and unhelpful, which was bad on his part. Also, given the prices charged for dinner, the presence of very young noisy children in the dining room was unwelcome and rather spoiled that occasion, a factor which the parents seemed unconcerned to rectify.

Good Points: Very pleasant olde worlde style hotel.The garden rooms are very comfortable and very well equiped. Excellent location close to the lake.
Bad Points: The plumbing was very noisy when other rooms used the showers etc.

Good Points: The accommodation was spotless, they shalet type rooms are a very good idea as you do not have to traips through the reception to get to them, this makes the rooms very private. the four poster bed made the room very special. 10 out of 10 for the room,
Bad Points: There was nothing i could fault about the room, Again 10 out of 10.
Further Comments: Whwn we arrived the lady on the reception was very friendly and checked us in very promptly, she then showed us to our room which was a shalet type room with a big four poster bed in it, my first impression was of how clean warm and inviting the room was. These type of rooms are a great idea as they are set apart from the main hotel giving you privacy. The room we had had a balcony that you could see lake windermere from, what a great view. The next morning at breakfast the service was great there was no waiting to be seated and our order for breakfast was taken swiftly. Again this room was very clean and the staff were welcoming without being over stuffy as some hotels are. I booked this hotel as a birthday preasant for my wife and the staff had left a birthday card in the room for her, i thought this was a great personal touch by them. i would defenatly recommend the Burn How hotel to anyone and i hope to be going back in the future. Thanks to the staff for a great break!!!

Good Points: The hotel was clean, food was great and decor warm, pleasant, comfortable, peaceful and calm and not coldy modern 'kitch'. Loved the room - we were accommodated in the lodge, which was lovely. This was the first hotel we've stayed in that always had a supply of hot water at any time of the day.
Further Comments: Very glad that we weren't given a room in one of the chalets as they look too much like a roadside motel and dont quite fit in with the main house - should perhaps have been built looking more like the main house which is far more attractive and lovely to look at. It was the look of the main house that made us choose Burn How in the first place.

Further Comments: We did not appreciate it was a Garden Hotel or what this meant. It should be made clear what this is. The separate chalets meant that it was cold at first. It would be a good place to stay in the summer.
