Good Points: Very Central Good Breakfast
Bad Points: Four poster room very disappointing, dark and dingy, not at all like advertised, (lovely airy cream room) Inadiquate car parking for number of guests

Good Points: Good location, warm staff and decor
Bad Points: Check out by 10 am is way too early especially for a hotel in the Lake District where leisure is the main reason for travel

Good Points: loved the way you tried so hard to please,and made a real natural effort in making our stay welcoming and enjoyable.plus you new the answer to the Abba West life song.HE HE,have already recommended you.
Further Comments: Run very professional with a real genuine warmth and care for detail. Top marks on directions to the hotel,and parking is not an issue although sounds it when booking as you are told you have to share carparks with another hotel.(its a huge carpark 20 steps away)web site bang up to date pics etc.perfect for us.Loved the bath.Have already recommended you.Many thanks again.

Good Points: Friendly staff, very central and great breakfasts..
Bad Points: Small detail but the mirror in shower room is hopelss as it was set in a corner and you could only see half of your face.

Good Points: Food and service was good. Location was excellent
Bad Points: Furniture in our room was shabby. Decor left a lot to be desired. The whole house could do with a facelift

Good Points: The were very friendly and helpful without being over-bearing. A well cooked English breakfast. A complimentary glass of wine or juice was most welcome. Although we did not use it, there was a cinema room/sitting room in use with complimentary tes/coffee/sherry. Good value for money. Just big enough to have the personal touch without the famliarity of a small B&B.
Bad Points: due to thwe age of the building, occasionally the shower room had a damp smell.
Further Comments: On arrival as there are double lines close to the hotel, the only space for parking outside the hotel is on a bend which blocks the road. As a 'townie' this made booking in slightly stressful. The hotel has an agreement for parking with a larger hotel just along the road. Would it be possible to say this in the brochure or when advanced booking so that the car can be parked then go and book in?

Good Points: four poster bed& spa bath. Dining room.Wood paneled staircase Whilst the 'old world charm' may not suit everybody,we liked it

Further Comments: Overall value for money. Although we did not avail ourselves to the free sherry & Cakes or the use of leisure facilities at another hotel, we think that this adds to the value

Further Comments: This is the second time we have stayed at Virginia Cottage and have enjoyed it very much. Very comfortable stay, food lovely. Jacuzzi bath was good to have after a long day fell walking. Staff were always around if you needed anything.

Further Comments: A realy enjoyable stay for our first and I hope many more visits to the Lake District. The Hotel was in the ideal position central to all the amenities of Bowness. Bars, Restaurants a plenty. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for great days out exploring the beauty of Bowness and Lake Windermere the use of the near by leisure centre was a must, giving a great oppurtunity to unwind after a long day of activity We would recommend the Hotel to any body whishing to visit Bowness or use it as a base to venture further afield into the surrounding fells and places of interest, Bertrix Potters cottage Hill Top is just a few miles away, a short drive via the car ferry or a couple of hours pleasant walk.

Good Points: The room was spacious. Comfortable bed. Location excellent. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
Bad Points: Complicated shower. Parking hit and miss [e.g. got blocked in and limited space].

Further Comments: We enjoyed our stay but felt our room was very small. Loved the shower. We felt the staff were rushed all the time, they were quite helpful but seemed to have no time to spare and were quite brusque. Virginia Cottage is very quaint and looks very nice, particularly when viewed on the internet.

Good Points: Close to lake and to bars.Room clean and staff friendly.
Further Comments: We were very happy to see our room on arrival.Staff were welcoming and room had everything you require for a good break.Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and we were served quickly. We would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a memorable stay in the lakes.
