Good Points: The second room we were offered was ok - worst thing about it was the temperature.. FREEZING. (It was a courtyard room, with a single glazed door onto the courtyard)
Bad Points: The first room we were given stank! A smell of putrid rotten eggs hit us as soon as the door opened. I then returned to the desk and asked for another room. The staff complied but seemed surprised.
Further Comments: The hotel itself was attractively old and the room we ended up with was large -the down side being the freezing temperature and a huge amount of black mould on the bathroom ceiling. The breakfast was reasonable and served by a very cheerful, approachable lady, very overworkd but extremely pleasant. She was a definite plus to our stay.

Good Points: The room was lovely, the bathroom was above average size for a double room and to have a full sized bath was a bonus.
Bad Points: The room was situated on the courtyard of the hotel which meant that there was noise from drinkers in the courtyard till around midnight.

Good Points: The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were excellent and we were checked in speedily and in a very friendly manner. The food was absolutely suberb - breakfast was about the best we'd had!
Bad Points: Our room was on the top floor and climbing the stairs was a chore! Also, the room faced the main road, which was very noisy at times. However, it was still excellent value for money.
Further Comments: Although the hotel was excellent we would have liked some more information on the room itself. The room was clean and comfortable, but faced the main road, which was very noisy at times, especially late at night. Also, it was on the top fllor and there was no lift, which made climbing the stairs a real chore. Overall though, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were friendly and courteous at all times and the food was excellent!

Good Points: Nice large room, duvet, great large shower
Bad Points: Very hot in the room and ensuite. Tea in room was not very nice and there was not enough milk.
Further Comments: Had to wait a long time for someone to greet us at Reception, and had to wait ages for tea in the morning.

Good Points: extremely spacious comfortable accommodation
Further Comments: we requested a smoking room but this was not available. Check in was a bit chaotic as usual staff were not available but staff were polite and helpful. We arrived back at the hotel after going out and could not get a night cap as the bar was closed which was not detremental but it would have been nice to unwind before going to bed.

Bad Points: Shambolic check-in process and absence of any signage giving directions to rooms or a member of staff to take guests to their room
Further Comments: Given that we checked in at around 4pm, it may be that the bulk of the staff were off duty. There was no one on reception; the member of staff manning the fairly busy bar had to leave his customers to check us in. The room key could not be found; once found it would not fit the door. An alternative room was allocated which, unfortunately, we could not locate due to the absence of direction signs. That said, the meagre staff on duty could not have been more helpful. The shambolic check-in experience did not mar a very comfortable stay.
