Good Points: Immaculately clean and comfortable room, a warm welcome from the proprietors, and a fine breakfast.
Bad Points: Edinburgh in general is an expensive city, and the Southside reflects this. However, the quality is superior to others in the same price bracket.
Further Comments: The owners have obviously taken a lot of care to think about what visitors will enjoy. Many places, for instance, will buy cheap ingredients for the breakfast, but not the Southside - the food was of fine quality and there was variety. The rooms are classy and comfortable and there are nice touches, such as a pretty good library and DVDs one can borrow. Although a little out of the centre, this is not a problem as there is a bus literally every couple of minutes and you can be at North Bridge in 5 minutes. Confidently recommended for all sorts of traveller - and although I was there on a business trip I imagine it is particularly suitable for a romantic weekend.

Good Points: The Southside Inn was a refreshing surprise upon landing in Edinburgh. A brisk walk to the Royal Mile. Excellent breakfasts, beautiful rooms and an excellent host. 5 night stay and reluctant to leave!
Bad Points: Nothing
Further Comments: Our small group of four booked rooms at the Southside Inn based on reviews posted on the Internet. A four star Scotland Tourism accomadation, near Internet Cafe's, restaurants, etc. We had a lovely third story room with extra large bath. Would certainly recommend!

Further Comments: We spent the last two nights of our wedding trip at The Southside. One need only look up all the words defining superlative and apply them to this establishment. The stay was special, the service and ambiance incomparable, right down to a fresh floral arrangement in our room. The level of comfort (physical and psychological) was seamlessly delivered with every element coming together flawlessly.

Good Points: The warmth and friendliness of our welcome. The accomodation itself and the very helpful attitude of the owners
Bad Points: Nothing
Further Comments: The Guesthouse lacks a parking facility, but the helpful attitude of the owners more than made up for this. The rooms are spacious and well designed and the breakfast provided was first class. The position of Southside being close to the university and on a main route into the city centre made it ideal for our visit. We have already recommended the place to friends who might be visiting Edinburgh

Good Points: The accommodations were very homey and nice. The breakfast was very elegant and food excellent. WE had to catch an early train and the owners had tray of fruit and juice, muffin and yogart in the room when we came back from dinner. That was beyond good service. Only draw back to an older house is the pipe noises we heard when they flashed upstairs. The street noise was loud. The couple who runs the guest house were lovely. Very easy to talk with and they were very informative.
Bad Points: The couch was in need of update and the tv was not on a high enough table to watch it at eye level.
Further Comments: The surrondings,it sounded like it was in a neighborhood of homes not on a busy street with businesses.
