Good Points: The setting of the hotel was lovely - very picturesque. The room was in good order and the food was delicious.
Bad Points: Service was at times very slow in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The indoor pool area could have done with a refurbishment due to algae on the tiles and the changing rooms were too far away from the pool. You had to walk a distance in your swimming costume through other facilities.
Further Comments: We enjoyed the stay very much - it was very good value for money and the room was in very good order and very clean. The facilities at the hotel were very good, although the indoor pool could probably be updated. The food in the restaurants was very good but at times the service was very slow and once we thought we had been forgotten about. Overall however, the hotel was excellent and I would recommend it.

Bad Points: bad and slow service in restaurant for breakfast, Waited ages for offer of tea or coffee. then order for food took ages in coming. breakfast had obviously been kept on heated plates, food overcooked and kept hot. waiting in corridor for table to be available with several other people (6 in total)
Further Comments: The hotel was in a brilliant position but the standard of service didn't match the cost. We were very disappointed with the service and the standard of the breakfast.

Good Points: We had a fantastic room located on the top floor of the main house and had great views over the hotel grounds. Very happy with the room.

Further Comments: We were delighted with our stay. The room was lovely, breakfast good and it was brilliant being able to use the leisure facilities even after we had checked out on the Saturday morning. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to friends & family.

Good Points: the manor was lovely and the view was fabulous
Further Comments: The Hotel was lovely, i would have liked to have known that i wasnt staying in the main manor before arriving however the accomodation we were allocated was good. The biggest dissapointment was the restaurant,The service was very slow and the waiters were not as attentive as they should have been i would agree that the hotel is 4 star but i think that with the price of the accomodation a little more should be spent on hireing trained people who beleive in giving an experience as part of the service and not the 2 young lads that didnt know who had taken our order,didnt ask us if we would like a drink for at least 10 minutes after arriving, who took the wine glasses away even though we were having wine! who didnt once ask if everything was ok, i guess to sum it up they did what was required and no more. We have a 5 month old baby and this was our 1st weekend away since his birth so all in all it was nice to have a break but tinged with a slight dissapointment due to the mediocre service in the cellars bistro,

Bad Points: the door handle to the room was hanging off. Didn't give a very good first impression to the room.
Further Comments: Enjoyed it very much. leisure facilities were very impressive as was the meal in the evening which was reasonably priced.

Bad Points: Poor service at breakfast plus poor quality food at times.
Further Comments: Overall the room and location were fine although the room and the grounds felt a little lacking in real care and attention e.g. sealent coming off the edges in the bathroom bath looked stained not major things but not really in keeping with the quality of the hotel. The service at breakfast was at times laughable with a lack of organisation and at times vey poor quality food which arrived cold or the incorrect order on a number of occasions. Considering the price paid for the accomodation I expected much more!!!

Good Points: The site is wonderful with far reaching views across the valley and beyond.In a tranquil setting with the benefit of a historic building.
Bad Points: Shabby sports facility and poor service standards. Too expensive and poor value.
Further Comments: I have visited the hotel before and noted the deterioration of the sports facility and the service standards.There is mould growing on the hydro-spa walls and the swimming area is tired,to say the least,but to walk a considerable distance to the pool,some of which is outside,when there is a linked door which would make life more simple is unacceptable.There was a 15 minute wait for breakfast,then when it arrived it was not worthy of the wait. The hotel is ready for refurbishment ,in the very compeditive hotel market this hotel is poor value,I would not return until I was convinced that standards had improved.
