Good Points: Clean Bathroom with attention to detail . Comfortable bed.
Bad Points: Bedroom a little on the small side without a comfortable chair.
Further Comments: We loved the friendly atmosphere in every area of the hotel. The staff were without exception friendly, polite and efficient. There was ample space for sitting indoors in the public rooms and the grounds were lovely. the food was good at both dinner(in the bar) and breakfast. The only gripe was the tiny size of the bedroom but we slept well! We were a little worried that it might be difficult to find the hotel but in the event it was easy due to the compact nature of Ripon.

Further Comments: I booked this hotel as being adjacent to Fountains Abbey but otherwise I just selected it from the Web under the heading of Ripon Hotels. In fact we found a very pleasant hotel very close to the ceter of a very attractive town. We would have been more confident in making our reservation if the locale and parking availability etc was more apparent. In fact everything was more than adequate and we will most certainly consider Best Western affiliated hotels in the future.

Good Points: All so clean and fresh. Spaceous rooms and excellent bathroom. Gorgeous views of the gardens. Well sited hotel.

Further Comments: Our stay was totally enjoyable. The staff were all lovely and the hotel a pleasure to stay in. We did not eat in the hotel apart from breakfast, but the evening menu did look good. Was great to have all the inf booklets available in our room to find out what was in the area. Ended up going to Lightwater valley! Will definately be using the website again for future hotel bookings. Would be helpful if the hotels were broken down into catagories such as good for couples/families etc.

Good Points: Nice room - cot set up for us on arrival; lawns and grouds great for a two year old to run around in; Interesting wine list with knowledgeable maitre d'hotel
Bad Points: Staff appeared more interested at both dinner and breakfast in preparing for the next meal than finishing serving ours: at dinner this meant we were not offered coffee whilst waiters were preparing tureens for the breakfast buffet; at breakfast there appeared to be an inadequate number of staff; our coffee order was taken some 15 minutes after sitting ourselves down; we had to point out that there was no butter on the table, which then took at least tenminutes after the toast to arrive; my kipper took about half an hour and staf had to be reminded; again staff were busy preparing tables for the next meal rather than serving us. The only bar in use when we stayed was a public bar in which smoking was permitted.
Further Comments: Pleasant hotel, well situated, nice grounds marred only by the staffing issues at mealtime and the smokey bar.

Good Points: The room was very comfortable ,warm and inviting. The on suite bathroom was excellent and could not be faulted.
Further Comments: My overall view of the hotel is that it was friendly, comfortable, everything was easily accessable and the staff were polite and very helpful.

Good Points: We were struck by the attention to deatil - although an old hotel the facilities were up to the mark and thoughtful touches eg the water cooler on the landing and the log fires just made you feel that the staff wanted you to enjoy your stay.
Further Comments: Excellent value, first class service and an excellent weekend.Thanks to all your staff who behaved very professionaly.

Good Points: the room was spotlessly clean, having been recently completely refurbished.the decor,bedding and curtains were excellently co-ordinated and of high quality,all appearing to be brand new.the bathroom was of ample size , again recently re-fitted and very clean and fresh looking. there were clean towels and all of the toiletries you would expect to find in a quality hotel on a daily basis. overall standards were exceptionally high, much better than expected on reading other reviews of the hotel.the room could not be faulted and had obviously been much improved very recently.the hotel itself also maintained very high standards of cleanliness and showed no signs of being tired as previous guest reviews had suggested.service and friendliness of the staff were maintained at all times. we found everyone we encountered to be helpful,prompt and very friendly.
Bad Points: if any area could be improved , we could only suggest that the hotel pub which adjoins the hotel be a bit more flexible with opening times as it is only open at restricted times.although coffee and tea were available by request at all times from reception.
Further Comments: overall i would rate this hotel as excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay.it proved to be excellent value, particularly as we took advantage of a two for one offer! our only regret is that we didn't take advantage of the evening meal offer too !judging by the excellent and plentiful breakfast we took, the evening meal would have been a good choice. there was an excellent breakfast choice, something for everyone.we took breakfast in both the main dining/function room and the smaller breakfast area. both were clean, well decorated,bright and spatious with large windows over-looking the hotel gardens. the hotel location was good, only a few minutes walk from the city centre and our room overlooked the park nearby. there was ample parking right up to the hotel door. to sum up, our stay at the ripon spa hotel was a comfortable one, of great value and of a high standard.i'm glad we were not put off by the remarks we had read before booking.the hotel has obviously been much up-graded and improved. the non- smoking room we stayed in was spotless.the corridor had just been decorated and was bright and fresh.the hotel , overall was an excellent choice and of great value. i would definately stay again.

Good Points: Well appointed, very comfortable, a wonderful view over the gardens. The staff were very accommodating and friendly (a special mention for the waiting staff who were delightful)......The food was superb...... Excellent!
Bad Points: None that I can think of.
Further Comments: The position of this accommodation was wonderful as the hotel is in its own grounds so you could be practically anywhere but in reality just a few minutes walk and you could be in the heart of Ripon. The car wasn't used for the duration of the stay which was a really nice change. Some reports on the hotel said it was in need of refurbishment but I found everything in very very good condition. It was really welcoming and comfortable and there was plenty of rooms to explore and sit in, there were also a couple of lovely warm fires to enjoy.

Good Points: clean & spacious room, clean upto date bathroom as these tend in some hotels to get neglected
Bad Points: double glazing at the front rooms of the hotel
Further Comments: would have been better if not in a room facing main road as trafic kept me awake till 3am. went out in evening on return found bed sheets turned back, nice thought, however as things had been left out in room we would have taken them with us had we realised this

Good Points: Most areas of the hotel have been recently refurbished. The ballroom is currently undergoing refurbishment (expected to end beg Feb) - though this in no way affected our stay. The hotel is very comfortable and was very warm.
