Good Points: Surroundings
Bad Points: Cleanliness - around the toilet was filthy.
Further Comments: For such a grand place, I thought the staff could have been more customer service orientated. Overall the stay was O.K but could have been better. Leisure facilities good. Rooms noisy with creaky floorboards.

Bad Points: General maintenance or the rooms. When we arrived our bedside lamps weren't working and there weren't even any bulbs in them. There were no clean towels or soap in the bathroom. All of these were remedied but should not have accured in the first place. We stay in hotels all over the country and never have I ever been so disappointed with an hotel. We booked a superior room but the room we had was certainly not up to our usual expectations of a superior room. I will not be recommending this hotel to any of my business or personal contacts in the future.

Bad Points: better quality of rooms
Further Comments: i have stayed in this hotel a number of times but this time the room was freezing asked for a double room gave me a twin room and were reluctant to change my room.

Good Points: Large spacious room, well presented with all the expected facilities
Bad Points: I arrived early / mid afternoon and had to wait about 35 minutes for access to my room.
Further Comments: Overall the stay was a very pleasureable experience. The food was of a high standard, and the staff were extremely helpfull. The price of drinks was a bit on the high side.

Good Points: A very good size bedroom and bathroom. Enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc. Excellent food. Quiet room.
Bad Points: Very over priced bar. A bottle of wine that would normally be ﾣ8/ﾣ9 at a restaurant/hotel was ﾣ15. The bedroom decor was slightly outdated compared to the public areas but definately didn't spoil our stay.
Further Comments: Overall, a very enjoyable stay. The accommodation was pleasant, spacious and clean. It was very nice to be able to use a pool & jacuzzi etc. Nice food and pleasant staff.

Further Comments: Our only problem is that we didnt arrive earlier enough to fully enjoy the hotel and surrounding walks. Next time........

Good Points: Imposing building, Huge hallways like a palace, good food
Bad Points: Room big but in need of a refurb
Further Comments: I agree with some of the other comments made by other guests. The rooms are very old, a bit like staying in your grannies spare room. That said there was lots of space in the superior room and some amazing period features. The corridors were a bit of a maze but that was perfect as the hallways with the statutes and massive paintings make you really feel like your staying in a palace. As you drive up to the hotel it looks amazing the facilities are a good standard and the food was great. The nearby village is also very quaint. Overall ﾣ100 for a tired but large room, easy parking, full english breakfast, carvery dinner and decent health club is a bargain.

Good Points: Clean spacious room,attentative friendly staff,nice views over well maintained grounds
Bad Points: Bar prices on the high side,Bar was very smoky at times.
Further Comments: hotel seems to hold a lot of conferences/weddings so public areas can be a little overcrowded at times. Carvery meals on the whole were good but some dishes were a little cold. Generally well worth a visit

Good Points: the room we were given (superior double) was excellent - even though there was a discoand wedding on where the room was situated there was no noise - the room was spacious with armchairs, dressing gowns and slippers which was a very nice touch
Bad Points: none - the overall standard of the hotel and its staff was very good
Further Comments: an excellent room - all the facilities you would want in the room and more - we had an evening meal included in the price which was a carvery - the food was excellent with a good choice - the buffet breakfast was superb. only problem I experienced which was minor was the parking - the carpark in front of the hotel was full so had to go to reception to enquire where else you could park - the extra parking was not very well signposted but this was a very minor thing and the hotel itself more than made up for it.

Further Comments: Fair value for money and carvery was excellent. Bar prices a little expensive considering no one was in attendance a lot of the time and we had to ring reception as did other guests.

Good Points: Hotel was in a nice area with nice grounds.
Bad Points: Room decor was tatty
Further Comments: Liked the Broadband access and catering facilities - just the room that I was not impressed with.

Good Points: The price was very good.
Bad Points: Although the room was spacious it was a little tired and we missed having fresh air as the window would not open.

Good Points: The room was lovely and big and clean it was a shame there was no view we looked out over the fire escape!
Bad Points: The food was very mass produced would have preffered to have paid a bit more and have better quality food. The french restaurant was closed on a Monday.
Further Comments: The main thing was the food it would have been nice to have been given the option to pay a bit more and to have had a more extensive menu.

Good Points: Clean tidy and friendly staff
Further Comments: We thought that when booking a superior room in the older part of the hotel it would have been better, just a standard room very basic, should have questioned locallity when first arrived but we were late and had been travelling all day. Windows open in room and heating off first cold snap of winter. Staff friendly not all informed of facilitys. bars not all open. Overall a little disapointing mainly because of room. would try again though as well located.

Good Points: The grounds and outside view of the hotel was impressive
Bad Points: The furnishings were well worn. Directions to rooms were very poor it took me 15 mins to find the right direction.
Further Comments: The website for the hotel was impressive and I expected a very high quality of accommadation. I was dissapointed. The room was described and booked as a double but the size of the room was barely adequate for 1 person let alone 2. The bathroom was extremely tiny. The housekeping of the room was poor. The outside of the hotel promised much but inside left me very dissapointed.

Good Points: The location of the hotel was excellent and the building lovely. The bar staff and breakfast staff were very good- attentive and friendly.
Bad Points: Check-in staff should all be aware they provide the first impression of the hotel. Heating needs attention as my room was quite chilly and the radiator was on.
Further Comments: Although the hotel itself was a lovely building the room I stayed in was fairly basic considering the cost. I would have liked biscuits with the coffee! There was no heat in the bathroom and despite the mild weather it was rather chilly. I would have liked to know that it was necessary to book dinner in advance as I had to eat in the bar. The wine available by the glass was very limited- only house red or white.The service both from the bar and at breakfast was excellent. I also liked the free newspaper.

Good Points: The room and bathroom were a good size. The choice of food in the carvery was good and service was very good. The first impressions of the hotel on arrival were very impressive.
Bad Points: Directions to our room (176) were not very clear and the corridors are rambling so it would have taken a long time to find the room had we not found a member of staff on route.
Further Comments: We very much enjoyed our stay. The description of the hotel on the website is accurate and in fact it was better than we had expected. Only 2 gripes: - the wake-up call we were offered on check-in never came - the newspaper offered at check-in never arrived

Good Points: not much, pretty old fashioned, smelled a bit stale, to say it wos 100 quid a nite, I find travelodge/inns at 40 quid a nite more modern and comfortable.
Bad Points: modernise rooms, the main carpet walking past reception near the conservatory was full of water stains.
Further Comments: In summary, the view of the hotel on the internet and on arrival looks very impressive, but as you enter the hotel and see the rooms it becomes a bit of a disappointment, at least with travelinns/lodge you know wot u get for your money.
