Good Points: Beautiful big room with high ceilings, large window overlooking Royal Mile.
Bad Points: Because of location it was quite noisy until about 0300 a.m. because of bars etc across the street.
Further Comments: Generally enjoyed our one night at this hotel because the room was beautiful. Sleep deprived from the street noises but I think one must expect this in this location. Hotel staff definitely not as freindly as in Canada. I would have liked to have known that the hotel street is above the Waverley train station street as we walked quite a distance with our bags before we discovered this. We then climbed multiple stairs up one close before we reached the hotel level which by the map I thought was right next door.

Good Points: Beautiful big room with high ceilings, large window overlooking Royal Mile.

Good Points: size of the room and bathroom facilities
Bad Points: the noise was terrible and the windows could not be shut to block out the noise, sleeping was difficult as a result.
Further Comments: Disappointing experience for the money. While the hotel was fine the noise from the street was terrible - mostly the buses and as the windows could not be closed it was not a relaxing sleep.

Good Points: It was central.
Bad Points: The room was situated beside noisy extraction vents. The room was shoddy and neither it nor the bathroom were adequately cleaned.
Further Comments: I was very disappointed with the standard of this hotel. The location is excellent and the staff are generally helpful but the room was of a very poor standard. It was located beside noisy extraction fans. It had not been hoovered properly, the bathroom floor had not been cleaned - there was talcum powder on it. There were brown marks on the grout in the bathroom and the decor was generally tired. It was poor value for money.

Bad Points: It was unfortunate that the room had not been checked thoroughly. A member of staff had to come and collect some underwear of a previous guest.
Further Comments: This hotel is easy to find, the staff are very helpful and informative. Rooms are of a good size and use quality linen but don't expect large bath towels. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Bad Points: It was unfortunate that the room had not been checked thoroughly. A member of staff had to come and collect some underwear of a previous guest.

Bad Points: Noise from the street kept us awake most of the night! We appreciate it was a Friday night! Triple glazing may help!
Further Comments: All staff including chamber maids ,cleaners, etc, were always smiley and said hello. Would come back again when in Edinburgh but perhaps get a rear facing room.

Further Comments: We had a lovely visit to Edinburgh and the central location was wonderful. When we checked in and witched rooms, weren't told about the noise ramifications of the change. I'm not sure we would have changed rooms if I would have known we would be overlooking the street near a busy corner.

Bad Points: no shower plastic hair cover, bathroom tiles showing meldew, worst feature - noise from outside(very loud at 02.00 am), limited milk for tea making, no sewing kit
Further Comments: Overall a good hotel, large room let down by noise insulation from outside and minor cleanliness issues concerning bathroom tiling

Further Comments: The hotel was beautiful. the location close to the centre of edinburgh ideal. the staff reall friendly and helpful. if i visit edinburgh again would use same hotel but would ensure i stayed sat to sun to take advantage of free on road parking due to absence of free hotel parking . my only criticism.
