Good Points: the very friendly staff and the location to the city centre.the hotel was also very quiet considering its location.
Bad Points: the rooms do require up-dating,but this does seem to be an on-going process
Further Comments: i would be very happy to use this hotel again.they do good deals in the autumn and winter.the added advantage of free parking is a bounus and the hotel are more than willing to allow you to leave any baggage which is a help particulary when using rail travel.

Good Points: Although basic the hotel was clean and well maintained ensuring our stay was pleasent. The staff were friendly and the location was ideal for our stay in York. There is a small car park to the hotel which we found useful, however it is small and could get full during busy periods.
Further Comments: Hotel St Deny's is in the ideal location for anyone wishing to travel to, and explore the city of York. The accomodation is basic, however it is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly. There are a number of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops within short walking distance of the hotel, and York Minster is also just a short walk away.

Good Points: friendly staff, good breakfast
Bad Points: small, cramped, old-fashioned, cheap room, noisy street, expensive for what it was.
Further Comments: I thought this was extremely overpriced for the room we got -- very tiny room, looked like it had been furnished with hand-me-downs from the 70's -- very cheap furniture, bedding, linens, uncomfortable double bed. The street-side rooms should have double-paned windows, and the whole place needs a makeover. The staff was very nice and friendly. It is definitely a budget hotel without the budget price.

| Good Points: The hotel was inside York city walls and had an onsite car park which
apparantely is rare in York it was only a five minute walk from the town centre and close to all amenities. |
| Further Comments: The hotel was clean and the towels changed every day the staff were
friendly and if you wanted anything they did there best to provide it.
The only thing I was disappointed in was the price. I believed mistakenly as it happens that I was only paying ᅡᆪ55.00 a night for the room and when I got the bill I was charged ᅡᆪ69.00 a night. The hotel receptionist explainded they only charge what is on there invoice which was ᅡᆪ69.00 a night. If I had booked it direct it would only have been ᅡᆪ55.00. That was my only complaint everthing else was
fine and well worth the visit. I would recommend it to all my friends. |

Good Points: the breakfast was excellent
Bad Points: the rooms are adequate but really could do with updating, the bathroom in our particular room (no.4) was large but cold and the shower had very little power behind it.
Further Comments: the hotel in general was ok but just a little tired, looking back there were certain hotels which were slightly more expensive but you would have got more facilities for your money ie pool, gym, better bar/lounge area so if i was to visit york again i would spend a little more and stay somewhere else...the location of st denys is good, just a short walk to the town center.also just on very picky note if you are after a relaxing weekend with long ly ins in the morning, unfortunatly you wont be having breakfast as they are served till 9.30am on weekend and 9.00am on a weekday which we personally thought was far to early after a saturday night on the tiles.......

Good Points: Excellent and convenient location for the city centre, being given a double room even though I was only a single traveller and the extremely spacious en-suite bathroom.
Bad Points: Nothing at all! The experience was excellent, as was the breakfast: plenty of choice and well served!
Further Comments: An excellent hotel. This will be my first choice if I stay in York again.

Good Points: Large with four poster bed
Bad Points: Very poor housekeeping, carpet marked and not clean on arrival. Room not cleaned on Wednesday until I requested it to be! then not well done, drinks tray not replenished or the cups washed.
Further Comments: The hotel is in a good position, has its own parking, ideal for visiting all major attractions. Regrettably we did not feel welcome, on arrival we rang the door bell but no one came (went for walk)on our second attempt the door was already open. Only on the last day, at breakfast, did we get a smile from a member of the staff. On the first night the restaurant was not open, we had dinner out. I wished we had done so on the second night. The breakfasts I can recommend they were very good.
