Good Points: Room was excellent and the staff very friendly and informative to the Town
Further Comments: The accomodation was very easy to find from the A1. The hotel was only 15m casual walk to the town. The Superiour room was very quaint and cosy and all the facilities you would require. The Breakfast was A1, with a great variety. The Kippers was excellent. Both my wife and i were overall very pleased and would happily recommend and go back ourselves. The town had everything from cosy cafe's to up market resturants, museums for every taste and age, beautiful buildings and a wonderful history to be heard.

Good Points: The friendly staff, laid back attitude and feel of the hotel.
Further Comments: It would have been useful to know the hotel was entirely non-smoking before the booking process was almost complete. The room was individually decorated which was nice. The facilities were great and all staff were very helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again, happily.

Good Points: Excelente desayuno , atencion muy amable y con orientacion de la ciudad muy adecuada .
Bad Points: Llegue despues de la hora del check in sin poder instalarnos ya que la habitacion no estaba lista aun, subir las maletas tres niveles sin ayuda tampoco fue bueno.
Further Comments: La ubicacion del hotel no es tan cercana al centro historico de york como informa el website, sin embargo la atencion y calidad de cuartos compensan . ( una vez repuesto del asenso de escaleras con cuatro maletas ).el desayuno fue muy abundante y amablemente se ofrecieron a abrir el comedor mas temprano el dia de nuestra partida .

Bad Points: out of the way. room a bit stuffy, although a fan was provided, but it was noisy to have on all night. mattress a bit soft
Further Comments: Good B and B experience but I would have preferred a closer B and B to city centre OR told how far it was from train station by Tourist Information Centre. We walked with very heavy luggage. The room did not have a window that opened, but a fan was provided. The room was very stuffy and we needed to use the fan all night, but it was rather noisy and interferred with sleep. The staff was friendly and very eager to please. Breakfast was great. The mattress was a bit too soft...better to have been replaced.

Good Points: Convenience to city centre. Comfortable and homely atmosphere.
Bad Points: The noise from the power showers.
Further Comments: The convenience of the bus stop was very useful, but it would have been helpful to have a bus timetable and route map. It would also have been helpful to have had a more detailed map of where the hotel is situated, eg the car park entrance is round the back and this is not made clear until you arrive at the hotel. Generally, the hotel is run very efficiently with friendly staff. Cleanliness and facilities are good.

Good Points: Myself and my partner thought the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
Bad Points: Nothing
Further Comments: Our stay was very enjoyable, the walk into York took about 20 mins but was no problem as we came to walk around York.

Good Points: Very comfortable bed, nice firm mattress, feather pillows. Nice bathroom too, excellent power shower.
Bad Points: Decor in our room could have been a bit tidier, but that's being very picky. English breakfast could be better too, particularly the mushrooms and sausage, but again that's being picky.
Further Comments: This is a small friendly hotel, we felt immediately welcome. We were on the 3rd floor, which is a long and steep climb, but a very comfortable room, particularly the bed, nice and firm, with lots of feather pillows. The en-suite bathroom was quite spacious and well-equipped, good power-shower. The only things I would change would be the decor in our room, and the English breakfast, which I could cook better, but these are very minor gripes, overall a very good place to stay, 8/10.

Good Points: Convenient location. No need to use the car.
Bad Points: Very little. A lift to the third floor would have been very acceptable. We were offered a groung floor room as well so the third floor was our choice.
Further Comments: Very enjoyable holiday. York has lots to offer every age range. Good hotel to go back to in the evening after enjoying the delights of York was the icing on the cake!

Good Points: The hotel was cosy, beautiful and clean, and the staff was the friendliest ever. I really felt at home in my room.
Bad Points: The days I stayed in York were fairly cold, and my room could have been warmer. But that's what the blankets are for.
Further Comments: Holmwood House is a beautiful town house situated about one kilometre from the city wall and the railway station. It is well worth the walk. Rooms are extremely beautifully deocrated, clean and cosy, and each one is a bit different. All rooms are ensuite, and at least my room had a colour tv. I also had air conditioner, which they told me they don't have in every room. The hotel is smoke-free, and it has a wireless internet access. The breakfast is great, and the staff is the friendliest ever. They help you with anything and everything, but they also know how to leave their guests alone. You get your own key to the front door, so you can come and go as you please. Downstairs there is a honesty lounge, which has a fridge with drinks. You just pick a bottle and write it down in a blue book, and they charge you as you leave. In the lounge you can also find information about York as well as menus of the restaurants recommended by the former guests. Though the neighbourhood is quite and peaceful, there are a few nice pubs just around the corner. Highly recommended.

Good Points: The bed was very comfortable; breakfast was good. Landlady was very friendly and helpful.
Bad Points: Too far from the centre of town; a little expensive for what we got.

Good Points: Host and hostess were friendly and helpful. Room was large, comfortable and clean. Distance to city center -perfect and access to public transportation very easy.
Bad Points: The shower though very clean was not working properly. Water temperature would not remain constant and the shower head arm was broken so that it had to be constantly adjusted or held to assure adequate water in the right direction. Having our luggage transported to our room - given we were three flights up would have been a real plus.
Further Comments: This hotel (B&B) provided a wonderful relaxing atmosphere and the food was generous, hot and well served. The owners went out of their way to recommend restaurants and sights and how best to access them. Other guests provided lively conversation and being off the main street allowed for a quiet and peaceful environment. I would like to have known that the room was not only on the 3rd floor, but that the stairs are both narrow and steep. A porter service would eliminate this frustration - as it was carrying luggage upstairs that was the negative here. I would be sure in a future booking to request more specifically what I want and need and would ask for assurance that the shower/bath was in total working condition.

Good Points: Accommodation was clean and tidy. Staff were really helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was lovely. Within walking distance to the centre.

Further Comments: Nothing. The review on the internet told us everyting we needed to know. We will be using the same B&B whenever we visit York.
