Good Points: Very clean, and although on the main road quiet.

Further Comments: We were really happy with the room and the location of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were great.

Further Comments: We were very pleased with our accomodation. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and helpful and breafast was delicious.

Good Points: Value for money
Bad Points: It was somewhat far out of town which made it awkward to pop backwards and forwards during the day
Further Comments: We found this to be a very comfortable hotel and liked the cosy atmosphere. It was much more personal than a busy city hotel chain hotel.

Bad Points: nothing apart from shower being a pain to get right.

Good Points: The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and comfortable, nice attention to detail. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.
Further Comments: Everything about the break was very good. It's nice to stay in a room that you feel is as clean as you would have your home. The hosts seem to have thought of everything, choice of drinks in the room etc. The breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. Perhaps further from town than some would like but well worth the walk.

Further Comments: Everything was as described in the review of the accommodation. Lovely clean rooms.Large white towels. Beautifully cooked breakfast with a great variety of choice. What more could you want plus with easy walking distance to York center

Good Points: clean, close to all amenities,friendly staff,food very good,overall we had a very enjoyable weekend

Good Points: Friendly staff who took time to chat to you and offered local knowledge if required. The room and on-suite was fresh and clean. Last but by no means least the breakfast was lovely, very tastey and well presented.
Bad Points: My room was on the third floor and was quite a climb up steep and narrow stairs. Once you recovered your breath, the view of York from the bedroom window was wonderful.
Further Comments: Nice, homely, small unlicenced Hotel with friendly staff who produce and serve up an excellent breakfast. What more do you want?

Good Points: Cleanliness is everything when you stay in hotels regularly and Holmwood was excellent in this department. This coupled with the friendly helpful staff made the stay very pleasant.
Bad Points: Mattress could be updated to a more padded, upholstered type. The decor in the room is becoming somewhat dated.
Further Comments: Really good, I would use the hotel again.

Good Points: A clean and comfortable room and en-suite with all the necessary requirements - bathroom linen etc. tea/coffee etc.
Further Comments: A pleasant & comfortable hotel with a very helpfull hostess and a good English breakfast. For myself, sufficient hotel & room information is provided on the hotel website. I cannot think of anything I would liked to have known before booking.

Further Comments: Very Friendly, Clean and comfortable accomadation, all of our expectations were met. Very easy walk from York city center, would definetly recommend!

Good Points: the accomodation was close to the city walls, was clean with friendly and helpful staff.
Bad Points: I would have expected more from 4star accomodation. in the past I have stopped at many hotels and guest houses,to me this was a reasonable guest house not a 4 star hotel.
Further Comments: hotel has small car park and a tiny rear grassed and decked area. The dining area had recently been decorated, it was cold and lacked atmosphere. 10 minutes walk to Micklegate so was ideally situated. The Superior room was comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel was more like a comfortable B&B than a 4star hotel. All this said we look forward to staying there again.

Good Points: The accommodation was well furnished, comfortable and inviting, close to all the attractions without any of the city disturbances. Would definately consider returning.
Bad Points: Lots of stairs so may not be appropriate for someone with limited mobility
Further Comments: The hotel staff were responsive to meeting our needs, they made every effort to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Polite, friendly and well informed. Thank you
