Good Points: Spacious rooms. Pleasant surprise when we found we had a four poster bed. Location to race course and town is perfect.
Further Comments: Great location. Great prices. Definately value for money. Good sized rooms. Very friendly staff. Quick service when it came to breakfast. All in all an excellent stay - will definately return.

Good Points: The accommodation was everything we hoped it would be and would rate this Hotel very highly.
Further Comments: No problems with booking or Hotel, all went well from start to finish and had a very pleasant stay. The online description was good and accurate and the staff were excellent.

Good Points: Convenient location, easy to find and comfortable distance to the town center. Breakfast was excellent, friendly enjoyable stay.
Bad Points: Being woken early by creaky floorboards above us, awkward shower.

Good Points: Walking distance of the City Centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant surroundings. Easy to get to.
Bad Points: Was a bit dissappointed with the meal we booked in the hotel restaurant. we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were placed next to a table with a crying baby and a young child who was running around. Not the atmosphere we had planned when we dined at 7pm!
Further Comments: Pleasant hotel-easy to find and good parking facilities.Staff were very pleasant and allowed us to check in-even though we arrived before lunch. Food was very good and we were even allowed to join in the Christmas party at night! Room was nicely decorated and nice views of the racecourse.

Good Points: Our non-smoking room was comfortable and well maintained with a comfortable bed.
Bad Points: TV reception was poor. Why have a TV if the picture quality makes it unusable?. The shower was inadequate... too low to use standing up.
Further Comments: The location,15 minutes walk from the city centre, was just what we needed. We enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Good Points: A warm welcome, clean & friendly atmosphere.
Further Comments: We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at the Newington. The staff were friendly & helpful. The 10 minute walk into the centre meant we were able to leave the car at the hotel for the whole stay. The room was clean & warm. We would book to stay here again.

Good Points: Rooms were cheap, and hotel was situated quite close to the city centre.
Bad Points: Musty smell in some rooms; old-fashioned decor and fittings; unsafe lift; rooms quite cramped.
Further Comments: The hotel is adequate for people only staying in York for a few nights, and who are likely to be out most of the day. However, based on the rooms that I and my colleagues had, it would be too cramped for an extended stay. Nonetheless, it is well situated and is only 10 minutes' walk from the City Centre. While some people may find the dated interior rather homely, in my opinion it would benefit from a refurbishment to give it the feel of a well-maintained, modern hotel. A very good breakfast is provided, with plenty of choice and a decent Full English available.

Good Points: Cleanliness of the hotel. Food and service were particularly good.
Further Comments: Room was beautiful and clean with plenty of room. Service was excellent and parking facilities excellent aswell. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food on the menu was delicious....lots of choice, to much choice maybe! Breakfast again, served very quickly and pleasantly, delicious and very filling. Thank you Newington Hotel for a lovely relaxed and enjoyable break. Would definitely stay with you again.

Good Points: Location, easy access the city centre by 15min walk or local bus service. Quite.
Further Comments: We were very disappointed with the first room given to us, but the second room was fine and just what we had expected, clean, bright & modern. Breakfast was a very good selection.

Good Points: - large room, bar, easy to find, convenient location
Bad Points: - breakfast was 'average' - would have expected a bit more for the price we paid - not very flexible around check out time, appreciate we were messing them about but would have helped to have been specific about whether they needed payment or access to the room to clean - mixed messages
Further Comments: I'd recommend this hotel - but 10.30am checkout time might be challenging for a 'heavy night out'......

Good Points: Large, comfortable room; stylish and welcoming.
Bad Points: The room was described as having a jacuzzi; this turned out to be a bath with a strange spray device which smelled unpleasant - quite a misrepresentation!
Further Comments: The staff were friendly and helpful; our room was large, clean and comfortable.

Good Points: Very friendly staff,who were warm and welcoming in their approach. Room was clean,idy and well appointed with all the amenities one would require and was cleaned daily. Dining room staff were polite,helpful and efficient.Generally spaeking it was a pleasant experience which I would happily repeat. Would recommend hotel to others. Was within reasonable walking distance of most York attractions.
Bad Points: TV.in bedroom had poor reception. I'm sure that can be rectified by an engineer
Further Comments: My thoughts on what was good about the htel are contained in box above. Directions by road could be clearer. Apart from the TV nothing caused me any problem. Most info. required was on the web site
