Good Points: Good size room, nice TV set, ironing facilities available in room, plenty car parking, clean and well laid out.
Further Comments: My only gripe is that the breakfast was not part of the original purchase and I felt that ￂﾣ12 was excessive given that 350 yards down the road Weatherspoons offered a full breakfast for ￂﾣ3.

Good Points: I loved the fact that we could all stay together in one room. As we were traveling with our two tweenage daughters we were quite concerned that they be in the same room as us. We loved having a bath tub so we could really relax our tired feet and bones, as we were on a month-long trip around the UK, using varied forms of accommodation. The kids thought Novotel was the best. They loved the pool.
Bad Points: I would have liked some air conditioning as we were travelling in summer and four people in a small room overnight can build up quite a bit of 'heat'.
Further Comments: When I checked into the website, I was able to see pictures of the room available and that was a great relief. We had beautifully clean sheets and blankets on our beds, so our sleep was absolute comfort. Within minutes of requesting a booking, I had confirmation of the booking and some instructions on how to find the hotel. The only meal we ate at Novotel was breakfast, and it was wonderful. Very relaxed and generous and served for a generous period of time, so we were able to sleep in a little as well. We particularly loved the special deals for travelling with children; sometimes families need a little break that doesn't cost a fortune. We would definitely stay Novotel again.

Further Comments: Staff were not very attentive and were generally dismissive and unable to help when you asked questions.

Good Points: The room was agreat size and the bed was comfortable, the tv had a welcome note on it when you went into the room which was a nice touch. The pool was a nice extra to the hotel although small with only two changing rooms we had it to ourselves when we used it, although I imagine at weekends holiday times it could become quite busy with families. The location is good and the layout of the bar longe areas is nice.
Bad Points: The prices in the bar were in my opinion over priced, the reception staff were pleasant and helpful however bar staff were less than helpful and didnt ssem to have knowledge of prices etc other than standard pint and whiskey/vodka/gin. Although possibly trivial I was unimpressed with the toilet roll!! It was similar in quality to a supermarket value range (ie very rough!!) I also found it strange that the toilet was located in 1 room and the sink and bath/shower in another, this may be handy for families but I think a sink beside the toilet would be a good idea for hygiene reasons.
Further Comments: I would be unlikely to stay there again, as stated the room was a lovely size and the bed comfortable. I am glad that I booked online and recieved a good rate as I would not have been happy to pay the full rate as laid out by the hotel. It was ￂﾣ4.00 in a taxi from the train station to the hotel but a nice 15 minute walk. We didnt eat in the hotel as we were only there for one night. I would say that I have stayed in better for a similar price. Though having said that it was adquate and comfortable for my one night stay.

Further Comments: I knew breakfast was not included in my package and I thought ￂﾣ12 was rather expensive for the small amount I would have eaten. Perhaps a continental uncooked breakfast could be introduced.

Further Comments: Enjoyable and relaxing, very helpful staff, good parking facilities, good location as regards central York and the neighbouring road network.

Good Points: The location was excellent and the free parking was brillant. The reception area and bar was very nice and comfortable.
Bad Points: The room could have been better. Looked a bit old in areas and the bathroom needed work to it. Would have been better with a walkin shower rather then shower over bath. The sofabed looked old and furniture can be updated. The lighting was poor in the room.
Further Comments: The hotel overall was great, free parking, excellent location and very good service and very clean. Room could be better with new furniture and better bathroom, better lighting and walkin shower.
