Good Points: The hotel had a lot of old world charm.
Bad Points: The hotel was understaffed. This was especially obvious at the bar in the evening. Breakfast was over-priced in my opinion at ᅡᆪ8.50.
Further Comments: Overall, I enjoyed my stay but there was mention of Fawlty Towers from more than one guest, including myself. Within walking distance to the centre of York. I would recommend the hotel despite any criticism and would stay there again if the occcasion arises.

Good Points: Lovely big room, nicely decotated and modern bathroom
Bad Points: bit of an old building smell, bedsheets and blankets (duvets are much better)
| Further Comments: Check-in was easy though didn't realise I'd have to pay the balance then, rather than at the end of my stay (could be a problem if the room was no good!).
Staff were all polite and explained everything fully. Room was excellent, large with good facilities and was nice and clean.
Bedsheets and blankets??? Why??? In todays age surely the majority of people at home have duvets?? It might be a nice idea to have that as a booking option?
Overall an excellent choice of hotel and would use it again. |

Good Points: Nice quiet room with seperate enterance from hotel
Bad Points: Smell of dampness in hallway. Milldew on windows. Garden area full of weeds.
Further Comments: Hotel gardens were unkempt giving a bad first impression. Very overgrown. Did not use hotel facilities as reception area felt unwelcoming. Room however was very nice in the extension area.

Good Points: comfy and clean. Plenty shower gel, shampoo etc.Clean towels every day. Excellent breakfast and staff were very efficient in dining room.
Bad Points: Could do with a shelf in the bathroom to lay bits and pieces on.
Further Comments: Initially I was worried as the room I was allocated was barely a room for a child. The en-suite was bigger! The room had a coombed ceiling and a wardrobe which was positioned hard up against the bed and could not be moved or opened. I requested to be moved as apart form anything else I objected to paying the same price as my friend who had a lovely room. This was granted I am pleased to say without fuss.
