Good Points: I thought the hotel was very clean and inviting especially the huge fireplace as you entered lounge area. Room clean and basic. Breakfast very good and a lot of choice.
Bad Points: The outside flap of the extractor fan in the window of the bathroom was rattling all night due to the wind which effected our sleep. The cold water tap was warm and not cold. There was only tea in the room and not coffee.
Further Comments: Upon arriving at the hotel we had to find somebody to check us in (as stated at reception.) We found a member of staff at the bar who said she would check us in. We went back to reception and there was a member of staff there, who checked us in. Unfortunately this member of staff was ready to go home and therefore checking in was very hurried. We would like to have asked a few questions about Deal and the surrounding area. It would have been nice to have been able to have a bit more information.

Good Points: Great location. The Royal is not a modern plastic hotel, thank goodness.

Good Points: Large room, very large bed, very comfortable.
Bad Points: No shower, but the bath had an adequate shower attachment.
Further Comments: Excellent hotel, excellent food and service etc. Only problem is the car parking, you have to use a public car park, although it was right next to the hotel.

Good Points: the high quality and spacious room
Bad Points: No welcome when entered the restaurant, had to wait circa 5 minutes before young girl greeted us and lack of knowledge of the menu
Further Comments: Despite restaurant experience everything else good/excellent

Good Points: The downstairs areas were newly refurbished, clean and modern, while still feeling homely.
Bad Points: There was a lot of repair work going on (to the outside of the buildings) and the showers were very slow and not very warm. The water system needs an over haul. When I arrived there was only 1 person attending the bar, serving food, taking orders, checking people in and out etc I ordered a greek salad (no cooking) and it took 25 minutes to arrive. The waiter did say it would be a few minutes when she took my order but that seemed excessive.
Further Comments: It would have been nice to know that building works were being carried out and that there was no lift.

Good Points: room fantastic.
Further Comments: very poor staff who had little or no knowledge of what was required of them i.e service and smile. There were very few management skills shown here.

Good Points: The hotel is located in a gorgeous spot, right on the beach. The rooms were modern, but personal.
Bad Points: I would have liked more water pressure and heat from the shower. Check out at 11am was too early.
Further Comments: The Royal Hotel in Deal, is situated in a lovely location along the beach front, with a gorgeous eating area outside. The history of the hotel was brought to life throughout, but with an updated modern twist. The rooms were fresh, spacious and comfortable. The staff were relaxed and friendly. We arrived by train, and it was very easy to find - only a 10 minute leisurely stroll. If you drive, there is parking right next door - too easy!! The English breakfast was one of the loveliest I've had and the Sunday roast looked pretty delicious. I plan to go back in the summer and would definitely stay at The Royal again.
