Good Points: Lovely view of the grounds; lovely large bath with in-bathroom tv; large and comfortable bed
Bad Points: Tea and coffee making facilities should be available in the room; the cold tap didn't work for the bath so sadly I couldn't enjoy it; porters could have made themselves more available - ended up carrying a heavy suitcase up two flights of stairs.
Further Comments: There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, although there is free bottled water.

Good Points: Big room, nice details, nice bathroom, courteous and competent staff, calm atmosphere, beautiful grounds.
Bad Points: The food was not so good but it was a wedding so I understand that big numbers had to be catered for which can be difficult.
Further Comments: We stayed at the hotel as part of a wedding party and it was the perfect venue. The building and the grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The staff are helpful, friendly, courteous and efficient. Our room was well-decorated, of a good size, and with good facilities - our young children especially liked the resident toy dog in our room. Of special note was the bed - possibly the most comfortable I have ever been fortunate enough to sleep in - and I love the fact that you can ask for specific types of pillow, especially the lavender filled option. These personal touches are what makes a hotel really special and makes for happy guests.

Good Points: friendly, welcoming service and the food in the camelia resturant was both sublime and value for money
Bad Points: Not having tea making facilities in the room, but hey I know thats a bit Ibis and as such below a 4 star rating.
Further Comments: The hotel is just right for an instant getaway from London and the setting is remote enough to feel you've escaped. The staff are friendly and the service is on the whole warm. The wine list is refreshingly affordable, with the resturant reprecenting stunning value for food will pleasently haunt you for a long time after your stay. The whole experience was great and I would recomend the South Lodge to friends and family. Good work guys well done!

Good Points: The grounds and the architecture
Bad Points: The bathroom was doorless! The a la carte menu was a set price for a set number of courses.

Good Points: Great atmosphere. Lovely rooms. Food in pub across the road was excellent (and much better value than the hotel restaurant)
Bad Points: Staff were hard to communicate with and as a result, requests were often misyunderstood. Service at breakfast was slow (and consequently the food was cold).

Good Points: Spacious, clean and comfortable.
Bad Points: No tea or coffee making facilities in room. No dressing table.
| Further Comments: Only a two night break and we spent all our time between breakfast and dinner (ie. 10 am to 6pm) out of the hotel. Unfortunately the weather conditions were not suitable to walk around the beautiful grounds.
Service, food and comfort excellent, our room had lots of space and furniture, although lacking a dressing table. |
