Good Points: hotel is very centrally situated so it was ideal in that respect for our visit. The room was spotless and extremely comfortable. The best pillows we ever had in an hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Bad Points: When we ordered this hotel online, we specifically asked for a smoking room. The info on the hotel said that there was one available. The room was booked on the 27th Feb. Yet when we arrived we were informed that there was no smoking room available. This was not satisfactory. We knew that breakfast was not included in the price that was quoted. Breakfast was charged at ￃﾂￂﾣ15.95 per person regardless of whether it was a continental or full breakfast. This seemed very expensive for juice, cereal, tea and toast. We thought that there should have been a 2 tier price system in operation. Eggs came in the form of scrambled eggs- no other choice!!! At that price we expected a freshly cooked meal.
Further Comments: Apart from the negatives mentioned, this hotel was exceptionally clean, the porter Shadrack was very helpful as was the lady in charge of the dining room at breakfast. The hotel was spotless and very central. Sky tv was available in our bedroom although there was no hair dryer.

Good Points: Breakfast was great, girl doing room service very good.
Bad Points: Room much to small exspected better for executive room so hot and no way to cool it down air con not working in winter.
Further Comments: We booked 2 rooms one for our son both so small and none of us slept because beds so small and just too hot.

Further Comments: On the second night of our stay, my husband and I were in bed when someone came into our room. They were able to gain access to our room using their key card. We called reception and the manager came up to our room. I dont feel that he took the matter very seriously as he didnt even try the door to see how this could have happened. I hardly slept that night for fear that someone would get into the room. we were told this hadnt happened before but this didnt help in our situation. I would like a full explanation to how this could have happened.

Good Points: Staff very helpful with regard to problem with room and we were upgraded immediately.
Bad Points: First room had a leak in the bathroom.
Further Comments: Very nice hotel and when there was a problem it was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Further Comments: Since the hotel changed from MacDonalds to mercure in April 2007, when we last stayed, breakfast is now totally self service including the cooked meals. One can order fried or boiled eggs and kippers etc cooked hot to order, but all other cooked items are from the new cooked meal breakfast bar. Unfortunately, in the five days I was there all these itmes were almost cold ( bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and mushrooms and maybe the rest of the items on offer )which was not satisfactory. I did raise the point with the staff but it got no better during the course of my stay. Obviously the system being used is not effective. it is a shame that, at the prices charged, the new owners have ceased serving the cooked breakfasts to order, or have not installed the right equipment for self service for the whol;e breakfast period !!! Otherwise the hotel was fine.

Bad Points: Hotel public rooms and bedroom rather cold.Drinks at bar costly.

Good Points: It was very clean and tidy. The receptionist was very helpful and we were able to check in early.
