Good Points: Warm, welcoming entrance, helpful multi-tasking staff.
Bad Points: Signposting to reception from car park. Entry to staircase to bedrooms a gloryhole giving poor impression. Bathroom needed thorough clean and loo needed fixing to stop it wobbling!
Further Comments: I stay at hotels throughout the UK several nights each week, booking similarly priced and standard of hotels. The Brook House is faded grandeur relying on its imposing position and historical building to attract customers, whilst its reality is at the lower end of the scale of value for money.

Good Points: efficient staff, nice surroundings, excellent food.
Bad Points: when booking I requested a bath but didn't get one. I think perhaps a virtual tour of the rooms would be helpful. It was very hot in the room, perhaps because it is above the kitchen.
Further Comments: Whilst the food was excellent, it was also costly. There was no option of bar snack food in the hotel.

Good Points: The rooms were well furnished, with (probably) the most comfortable beds in the world!
Bad Points: I think the choice of shower or bath would be appreciated by most guests - just a shower-attachment and a shower curtain in the bath would do.
Further Comments: Ours was a very short stay, but we are planning to return. The welcome was warm, the food was wonderful-with a great wine list. The crystal and fresh flowers in the dining room were lovely to see. The service was superb -friendly and efficient. The hotel was everything we hoped for, and more.

Good Points: Room was elegant and sunny.
Further Comments: This is a beautifully situated hotel with gracious accommodation and friendly, helpful staff. The bedroom was sunny and elegantly furnished with a top notch en-suite. I cannot recommend it enough.

Good Points: Good atmosphere, in nice and quiet surroundings. Excellent food and wines.
Bad Points: It's professional hobbyism. At typical private owned British hotel.
Further Comments: A typcal British, country-style hotel; good food, cosy atmosphere and original rooms. Enough comfort to make your stay pleasurable, too little to make it luxurary.

Good Points: The size, comfort and decor of the room and bathroom.
Bad Points: Though there was only one lady on duty on at check-in, she very kindly served us with tea after our long journey before showing us to our room.
Further Comments: Having read the web page of this hotel, we were concerned that breakfast appeared to finish at 9 a.m., however, on arrival we made enquiries and were advised that this was incorrect and it was much later on Sundays. We were pleasantly surprised that we were served with breakfast - as opposed to a help yourself buffet arrangements which applies in most hotels. On the whole, we were delighted with the hotel which came up to our expectations.

Good Points: The building is very nice
Bad Points: Spider webs
Further Comments: The food is very good and in quantity. The service is also very good. With a few minor improvements (such as replacing pink carpets) and an attention to detail, it could be an outstanding hotel.

Good Points: Excellent old building with very good period furnishing and decor.
Bad Points: Cleanliness - vital areas were clean i.e. bed linen, toilet and bath. Unfortunately, much of the furnishing was very dusty, corners had cobwebs, i.e. under sink in bathroom very cobwebbed and dusty, dirty bathroom mirror had splashmarks. Overall opinion, not very healthy.
Further Comments: In general, this could be an excellent place to stay if more attention is paid to housekeeping. All the facilities were there but I felt uncomfortable with too much dust about. We did not complain as we were only there overnight and did not spend much time in the room.

Good Points: The hotel is not a run of the mill chain hotel and the staff were very friendly
Bad Points: The draft beer cooled be slightly cooler.
| Further Comments: This is the kind of hotel i would like to take my wife to for a special weekend. The excellent cuisine was complemented by proffesional silver service. Not cheap, but well worth the expereience.
I plan to return. |

Good Points: It was comfortable, attractive and genuine--no pseudo anything.
Bad Points: The storage area, which is visible at the foot of the stairs, could be tidied up.
Further Comments: Rolleston its beautiful, quiet and charming. The Brookside Hotel was welcoming, pleasant, clean and attractive. Its restaurant was a true pleasure. I believe that both the hotel and the restaurant were good value. The innkeeper was always there to assist without being intrusive. As a woman travelling alone, I felt welcome and comfortable. All in all, I was glad I came.

Good Points: Excellent room, beautiful furnishings. Fantastic food and service. Set in a lovely village.
Bad Points: Shower pressure a little weak. No shower in friends' room.
Further Comments: The hotel is perfectly placed just off the A38 and easy to find. The village setting is tranquil and very pretty. Very large en-suite and beautiful olde worlde furnishings with a huge bed. The menu is extensive and exceptionally well presented with a wonderful table setting. Excellent wine list. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel exceeded expectations; I would like to have known how close the golf course is to the hotel (a few minutes drive)so that I could have booked there.

Good Points: Accomodation was nicely finished, with lots of period features.
Bad Points: Was unable to be given a twin bedded room and was unaware of this until registration
Further Comments: I was please with the hotel and it's surroundings, the food was to a very high standard. However if booking rooms on an evening with a gourmet evening it is very unlikley that you could eat at the hotel.
