Abbey Hotel near Brighton: Brighton Hotels

Good Points: Very convenient for places I needed to visit in Brighton, close to sea front and ideal for an overnight stop.
Bad Points: Nothing really apart from, perhaps, lack of public areas - sitting room, larger entrance and information boards etc.
Further Comments: The Abbey Hotel was clean, tidy, relatively comfortable with a friendly, young staff. My room was well equipped for self catering and quite spacious for a single in comparison with other hotels in which I have stayed. It was economically priced perhaps because it did not have its own en-suite shower and toilet.

Good Points: proximity to meeting
Bad Points: no staff at reception on arrival; No means of calling them; Electric Heater not working in the room; I could see water dripping from the ceiling which was alarmingly close to a light fitting. Reported to reception & was told they are working on it. The very next day it was noticed again.
Further Comments: no staff at reception on arrival; No means of calling them; Electric Heater not working in the room. though the staff offered me another room, it was annoying.

Good Points: clean and the tv signal worked really well in room.

Good Points: The hotel is situated in the heart of Brighton, near to restaurants, pubs, seafront and other amenities. It offers good value compared to other hotels situated nearby. Staff were friendly and professional. Would happily reccomend the Abbey to other people.
Bad Points: The shared facilties i.e. toilets and shower rooms, are beginning to look slightly worn and tired. If they were brought up to the same standard as the front of the hotel (which is currently going through a refurbishment) it would be a marked improvement.

Bad Points: Small and was not keen on the shared facilities and would suggest that they install a larger lift.
Further Comments: Hotel was more like a hostel although clean the rooms were very small and the lift was a joke.

Good Points: The single room had everything you could wish for, Fridge, Microwave, Toaster, tea & coffee making facilities, even plates to eat you late night nosh off.
Bad Points: Lack of parking. But that is Brighton.
Further Comments: A great value hotel. If you are not fussed what you stay in, this hotel will suprise you for what it offers you.

Good Points: Clean, spacious, good facilities in room. Excellent location.
Bad Points: Shared bathroom facilities - although I was aware of this when I booked but only because ensuite rooms were unavailable.
Further Comments: Hotel is clean, spacious, in a good location with good facilties in the room and in the lobby. Shared bathrooms are rather small but clean and adequate. My only complaint would be that the staff were rather noisy when cleaning early in the morning - when most people on holiday would like a lie-in. Having said that all of the staff we met were friendly and helpful.

Further Comments: on the 2nd night I woke up by the noise of other quests, probably on the same floor or on the room on the floor above mine. It was as if they were in my room-the noise was too much!
